This is what sucks about PayPal; I don't know of any methods of countering this chargeback, and if properly done (VPS/Proxy), then it can be nearly impossible to dispute back.

In a way this is good for transfers, for example i just bought an acc for $15 and now i can chargeback if i get scammed which i was 2 days ago (not by same seller). Its kind of assuring knowing i can get my money back but then again it can be used as a scam. I say its a 50/50

This is why you need to be careful with sites like Sythe; a lot of people here are just here to steal from other people.

A few tips I've picked up over the years:

-Post count/title means *absolutely* nothing. Titles are very deceptive for new people, especially the higher up ones like Apprentice - it seems as if they're a member of staff or earned a rank when really it just relates to post count

-When looking for trustworthiness, look first at vouches and then join date. Ignore vouches from Moderators and OMMs, people just collect them because they look good. Ignore vouches where the user went first, these are useless. The same goes with vouches for GFX and account training services; utterly worthless.

Join date can indicate trustworthiness as long as you use common sense. I'd say a good 90% of scammers are banned within a year or two of their join date. A lot of them (especially those who sell membership) try to get a lot of honest vouches before leading up to a big scam. I cringe whenever I see someone who joined last month selling gold or whatever and everyone readily agreeing to go first just because they have several vouches and a flashy signature.

-Never trust someone who's too eager. This includes people who want to buy all your stock, people who pressure you into buying/selling NOW etc. In fact a few days ago I was talking to someone called Jive_Turkey and not only did he want to buy all my GP stock, he wanted to buy all the random items I had as well and mentioned he was trading with a few other people at the same time. Of course he would only agree to me going first. I cut contact with him and lo and behold, a few hours later he was banned for scamming three other people.

If it looks like someone is gearing up for a big scam, be very cautious. Before you trade someone, check if they've posted on a bunch of threads just like yours.

-Finally, use your instinct. If someone sounds young or uses Ebuddy (a sign they're using a proxy), has poor english, insists you go first, tries to compromise with a 50/50 trade despite having no vouches etc. just don't take the risk. Missing a trade is ALWAYS better than being robbed.

It's annoying to see people, day after day, call paypal idiots/dicks/etc.
It's not their fault, they have procedures they need to follow. If sign up and always use an ip from California, then one day you use an ip from new york and send 600$. Then you dispute it as unauthorised, the only information paypal has to base their conclusion on, is the ip range. As for having them send as a gift with a note saying it's for virtual goods. I'm pretty sure Paypal doesn't give anytype of seller protection when it comes to virtual goods, so having them say that is a nono.

    Edit:
@ The five of jokers, no that will not work. It will make your new account limited, and it will dispute your original account. I believe if you CLOSE your new account, they cannot do anything about it and you keep your money.

I thought it was a good method, but paypal is one ****. I sold some rsgp and got money on my second paypal account. I sent the money from my second paypal account to my main. After some minutes paypal reversed the money and blocked my second paypal account. And now I got a paypal account with money, which I can do nothing with. FML

I'd really like to see bitcoins becoming popular especially on this site - without chargebacks, it certainly seems intruiging

I feel sorry for you being charged back, but you can also show proof to paypal for having your item sent to the right person and you will get your cash back.

Wrong. PayPal does not accept chatlogs/anything when dealing with intangible goods such as RSGP or accounts.

Also, since the chargeback is based on the premise that the payment was supposedly unauthorized, it wouldn't really matter if you could prove that the goods were deliviered or not

It does matter if the goods were delivered, if proof can be shown that they were in fact delivered, Paypal should go in the sellers favor.

Excuse me, as I haven't been in the RS blackmarket community for a while: but would/could people have you/the MM teamview them to make sure they aren't proxying?

No... What he is saying is that the person that charged back is claiming that it wasn't him that traded the items. Which means, even if he does prove that he did trade the items, he would be proving (in paypal's eyes) that he gave the items to a scammer and not the owner of the paypal that's actually doing the chargeback.

    Get it?

PayPal just denied me a claim after been scammed $60, even used my VPS IP. PayPal sucks they have high fee's and bad customer service. Don't use PayPal if you want to be safe there are many more ways to receive payments online.

    -Create an online WU Account
    -PlayerAuctions.com
-I think PayPal MoneyPak is safe.
    -Mail
    -Bank Transfer.
