ornate katana

Hello,

As you all should know Jagex has realeased an "ornate katana"

It is a samurai looking sword with the stats of an iron 2H with a slightly better str bonus.

The only way to get this is from buying a 90 day membership card from gamestop ($22.50) and it a limited time offer.

It can not be traded and has a "destroy" option. It can be redeemed at Diango

I have a few issues with this myself.

1) only available in the us? thats really messed up

2) brings Jagex one step closer to getting greedy an opening an "item shop"

3) you hold it in a really weird way - looks stupid?

for quick clarification I DO have the katana. (was going to buy membership at the mall like I allways do)

post any comments that you may have about this new addition below.

 

At least it's not overpowered.

I have no real problem with Jagex handing out cosmetic items to boost their sales.

 

yeah i have one myself and i think it does look pretty awesome although the player is a bit.....way to hunched over when he holds it, it could really be alot less dramatic...if you ask me..

 

@1. Its only available in the us because the European runescape players could much more easily go to runefest then the American players, its supposed to keep the Americans from feeling left out.

@2. its purely a cosmetic item, its not an ags.

@3. i think it looks cool.

I agree its fine because its more of a decorative item, but ive been hearing of obby maul pures using it as their main weapon

 

No way.
They both have the same attack speed, but maul has +80 crush and +85 strength... Katana has +13 slash and +14 strength.

Not even comparable.

 

I think it's a good idea. It is a COSMETIC item, and maybe it is an intro to an Item Shop, but I wouldn't be bothered so long as the item shop didn't include items that were overpowered, or had the power to beat anything already in the game. The fact that it is PURELY decorative tells me that, Yes, it is to enhance sales, but no, it isn't to give paying people a huge advantage over others, like in some other games.

 

I'm actually glad they introduced it. It is a really cool looking weapon and it doesn't affect me at all because it has all worthless stats. It is nice to look at and see around Runescape, it is good for Jagex to release purely cosmetic items into the game every so often. However once they start making these items with great stats I will be angry.

 

Yeah its not bad aslong as there are no stats.

I hope that they keep all items that do as part of the loyalty program.

I REALLY REALLY do not want to see an item shop with limited edition items that you can only get with paypal etc....if that happens I would just bot my account and stop playin legit

 

If you really have a problem with a sword that's +1 att and +1 str then you have problems.. It's a novelty item, at least Jagex is finding ways to get a revenue instead of going under and having a bunch of 12 year old nerds raging over a silly game.
