    Question... So it's quite hot....

Summer is here, and just to make sure that my computer does not overheat, I put a fan next to it and directed it toward the cooling port. I have a laptop that is raised up on a dock. What are the chances that my laptop will overheat? What else can I do to prevent it from overheating?

I've left my laptop on for 72 hours, no problem.

I prop it up so the vent has ample exposure and a fan is always blowing at it.

    Question... So it's quite hot....

You could try getting another fan but your computer should be fine if one fan is blowing at it all the time.

never use laptops for gaming, it will overheat and fatally damage it, i've already had 2 go in the gutter cause of this, once it overheats its done for.

one time it overheated so bad it melted the keys right off its glue, laptops not meant for gaming.

remove the battery, it tends to get hot when you don't even need it.

If you've got some extra money, try investing in a laptop cooling pad. My friend had horrible problems with his laptop getting extremely overheated, he bought one and the problem was practically solved.

    Question... So it's quite hot....

Get two laptops right next to each other. Have RuneScape open on each laptop. When one overheats, simply switch to the other one! Well, this is what I do. :D

Does your laptop have a history of over heating? I have some shitty toshiba atm, and it overheats like a motherfucker. I just make sure its not resting on my desk by propping it up a bit to keep things a bit more aired out.

Why don't you download speedfan or another program that monitors internal temperatures and make sure they don't reach 50+.

Just try to have it on a place where its vents can get plenty of air and you will be fine.

Try getting a liquid cooling system.

How does this fit in the runescape cheating section though?

    Question... So it's quite hot....

This is exactly what I do. I try to make sure the fan isn't directly on the table. I prop it up and stuff. Also, if you are really worried about it, you can always buy a VPS to run your bots and whatnot. That way, your computer can be completely off but your bots will be running. I would recommend PhotonVPS if you are interested in that. There is a link in my sig. ;)

Having said all of that, your computer has built in features that shut the computer down before it overheats to the point where it can cause damage. But if you don't want that to happen, do one of the things above
