Bitcoin got hacked and currently it is worth like nothing.

Creators claiming that they will try to resolve this.

Thoughts?

A quick google search would bring up many sources.

Personally, it would be a great time to invest in BitCoins now, considering that the prices have plummeted. I am almost certain the owners will 'bounce back' in the near future with an updated security system, as it seems that BitCoin does have a pretty clear security flaw.

I doubt BitCoin will roll over and die. It's probably better this way that they get hacked before their security flaw could have been taken advantage of when BitCoin had accrued a vast customer base, as opposed to it's current small expanding one.

Personally, I do not see the plausibility in the bitcoin currency. I understand the argument that it is more or less as "real" as the money that goverments print off, but still just seems like a dumb concept...

How much did it crash? I can't be agitated reading all of it at the moment. Looking for a percentage.

 

Around 50%, but it has bounced back a slight bit and it is only down to around $17 on Mt. Gox.

OT: It may bounce back up, but tons of people will not use it, like how tons of people will not use a ps3 because of the recent hacking.

good point. but i saw Sythe's post and it says you dont need an account or anything, and no chargebacks. so it completely defeats the purpose of people using paypal, etc. however obviously its too risky, at the moment

 

When I read the first post about it (on Sythe), the first thing I said was "If this is open-view coding, it's going to be too easily hacked." Two weeks later, and of course it happens. -.- Oh the irony.

Attention! Most of the people who have posted thusfar are complete morons and have no idea what they are talking about.

First: Bitcoin was not hacked!!!
A company that exchanges USD, Linden Dollar, and Bitcoin was recently infiltrated and around $1000 of BTC was transferred to the hacker for a low price.

BITCOIN ITSELF IS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO HACK. Bitcoin is decentralized; the ONLY way Bitcoin itself could be "hacked" would be if thousands of people chose to use a different client than the program available on the Bitcoin website.

I'm quite frankly amazed by the lack of understanding many of you exhibit for Bitcoin... perhaps the death of this currency lies in the fact it cannot be explained to the average, ADD-ridden internet user.
