    discuss.
I DO realize that people are moving to rsbuddy from powerbot, etc. but botting has rapidly been increasing.

feel free to edit the image and draw what you think will happen to runescape in the future along with any events.

those are the unique (not multiple) hits for websites related to rs, and runescape.com
    plus rsbuddy.com

I'm unsure how accurate this is, as there is no Y axis.

Ah, I didn't realise that. But for all we know, the Runescape Y axis could start at 100,000 and end at 101,000. It's hard to tell how much change has actually occurred.

Well I think its a pretty wide scale, you really think that the runescape hits are that stable for 2 years?

    pretty much.
if you look at the "players online" you won't notice it because bots are filling in for the legit players.

I don't see RS dying noticeably for at least another 5 years.

    RuneScape's future, now and then

The values in the Runescape graph refer to traffic directed at their website (runescape.com). While it appears that traffic is decreasing, this may be because of the increased portability of the Runescape client. Clients like Swiftkit, the various botclients, and Runescape's own Windows client don't connect to the Runescape website, and wouldn't generate Google Trend data. Since there are so many alternative Runescape clients out, people may just be choosing to connect through those instead of the main website.

I'm sure theres a set proportion of people who just use the client and people who use a help site like the ones listed.
it seems that is the case though, because the peaks of the fan sites are alot higher.

That could definitely be what's happening, although Runescape MAY be dying. With all due respect, many games these days have less players than they used to have when they came out. At around 2005, Runescape was STILL the only big MMORPG game. Now, there may be hundreds if not thousands of other games competing on that exact same spot.

Or lets take browser games for example - Tribalwars used to be one of the only middle age themed game which lets you conquer and work in a team - or even period, one of the only big browser games. Now there are about hundreds to thousands of other games competing.

Once other games are in the market, they 'steal' unique hits and players which in other words means the original games dying. It's not because they are bad, it's just that there are other games as well.

    Just proving my point:

Alexa traces all pages in the domain, not just the front page. Traffic is obviously going down. But once again, as I said, that traffic is going to another/other game/s.

heres one for Habbo, Maplestory and IJJI
one is a browser game but others are launched from the site.

here is runescape vs battle.net (wow)

these 2 are well above the other 2 on hits.

it does seem everything mmo is getting less populated, Ill try to see if theres something that is going up.

Why list fan sites when you're missing the best? Personally runescape wikia is the best to find information. Also why would you only list rsbuddy.. Include the other major botting sites so you can compare them.

I think most people check the Runescape wiki over any of the other sites. Instead of page views you should do it on active users in game.

Maplestory is a client-based game, definitely not browser based or launched from the site.
