    Strippers, degraded or empowered?

And the strippers who only do it because it gives them enough money to make a living and go to college to become those teachers and senators and what not?

Or the women who do it because they can't get work anywhere else and need to feed their family?

    You can't qualify this position.

you can do the wrong thing for the right reasons.
similarly, you can do degrading things for non degrading reasons and you can do non-degrading things for degrading reasons.
ex. committing a crime in order to feed ones baby or something similar.

i would say the motives do not factor in, just the behavior, societies views of them and therefore how degraded they actually are.

Strippers can strip, hookers can hook. Even though the strippers aren't having sex, it degrades them because they are seen as low people who present their bodies for money. They use themselves because they have no other way of making money. So it degrades them. Sure they can make lots of money, but it's not worth it, using your body like that..

Many strippers think it as a Job.
They punch in do what they have to and at the end of the day punch out.
    Bob is a customer
It's the Strippers choice to decide weather or not she wants do do this for money.

    Strippers, degraded or empowered?

People who give really bad reasons make me lol.

Yes there is a choice, however in alot of cases the choice is either strip or the streets. You obviously don't know alot about the job availability in most areas because honestly it is hard to find a job.

I used to live in a duplex apartment with another family as a kid and their mother stripped because there was literally nothing else in my town for a job. Hell my mother had to drive 2 hours every day to get to her job because that was the closest place with any available positions. Which she wouldn't have gotten if she didn't have a college degree.

So don't say it's because they aren't trying hard enough because I can guarantee you alot of them do.

Back to the actual "degrading" part of it,

Don't be ignorant, they can accomplish much more with the money they made at a job then at the job itself. How much does a waitress or a cashier really accomplish? Almost nothing really but they can use the money they earn to do that outside of the position.

    Referring to my last paragraph^

This proves this right here, yes they accomplish nothing when they are stripping however the money they make gets them through college to become that teacher.

    Strippers, degraded or empowered?

I wouldn't call them degraded, nor empowered. Life decisions are based on what you wanted to become or what you HAD to become, you shouldn't think of yourself as anything but an exotic dancer with pride and dignity. My mother was an exotic dancer/stripper before she had me, dropped out of high school, but still, she is an intelligent woman in my eyes, she had the most pride in the world, even being one she told me long ago. Strippers are still a part of our society, closer to empowered than degraded.

Actually it's about 24% that go to get a college degree and 90% go to get some further education.(14% usually pursuing an undergrad) Next time look it up.

it does not say how the sample was chosen.
if they were randomly chosen i may agree with these findings, however it appears that only the people that wanted to be interviewed were counted. this is a fallacy known as the volunteer bias.

furthermore, they did not check the background of these females.
who is to say that many said they had a little extra education to make themselves look better. this is known as the response bias.

also, this study only focused on women that profited from their work.

It would have to have been random otherwise it wouldn't have been a study based on university standards. All studies with human based responses are random and all 2 sided studies are double blind.

They would have to check the background, otherwise the 24% for university degrees would be obvious to figure out it they were lying. Also, it's easy to check if they are currently in school.

It was pointing out how much they made for a short bit of the passages, because it was relevant.

not true at all. a lot of universities perform quasi-experiments. also, the actual report does not say how they were picked. it only says the ones who responded were reported. volunteer bias ho.
also, it is very typical of the media to pick up these puff research articles. the most interesting thing about this is i tried to locate the article using major databases and it wasn't listed. it was only found in google scholar. imo, i dont think this was peer reviewed.

they do not have to check the background. ask any researcher. what they say is often what they need to go on due to privacy and financial constraints.

i am in university and i have done a few research studies and i will tell you, based on my own experiences with performing research and in being a subject in other peoples research, what the subject says is often what they go on. it is very rare to do any sort of background checks and double blind studies are also incredibly rare.

like i said, i do not think the samples results are able to be generalized to the whole, due to the style of participant selection.

yea i just looked into it. this article is not even printed in any journals yet. the study is not even finished yet.
as it is not in any reputable journals, it is unlikely to have undergone peer review.

    Models must sicken you to.

I don't find strippers to be degrading nor empowering. Different circumstances pertaining to such an issue can be argued in different ways, and both be seemingly correct.

I also find it odd as to why others judge others so subversively on being good looking. So what? Stop being so spuriously captious and envious. Why do people find the need to constantly blame people for being born the way they are, and, using what they have to the best of their abilities?

What's so wrong about being a stripper? Would it be less shameful in your eyes if they wore clothes?

The human body is a beautiful thing, and condemning one for flaunting it is truly ridiculous.

Why do you ask for sources from someone you are arguing against, but not someone you are arguing for? You clearly didn't ask for sources from a ridiculous claim by Delta Squad. It just shows how corrupt and ignorant you really are. You are more corrupt then strippers themselves!

It's not his job to help his opponent, it's his job to criticize his opponents argument. If that is corrupt, then wake up, it's the world we live in.

Strippers are also not corrupt, so his varying degree of corruption could be non existent.

I don't think there is anything wrong with strippers, to be honest, if people didn't have such a bad opinion about them, calling them names such as 'sluts' and 'whores'; a lot more woman would be them if they could because they would get a lot of money from tips and such but people look down on it.
