I've looked through multiple pages of denied suggestions and haven't came up to anything close to this.

My suggestion: I was wondering if it is possible to get traders to be verified. Such as I mean by this, it's just a way of proving you're actually legit, and not to scam.

What you'd have to do is provide your phone number (and you'd get a call from one of the staff members, or something, has to be a home phone.) You also provide your address, name, and proof of your address and name, etc.

It's just a little thing to show you're not here to scam...

    Thoughts?

Sounds like a brilliant idea, anyone who has all this info given away surely would not scam. Also, if they do scam, the information should be allowed to be giving to the victim, possibly posted on the forums.

This will definetly reduce scamming, many people will trade the verified members

Pictures are needed, and if you suspect that additional verification is needed, you report a seller, then a moderator does an in game verification, end of the discussion.

If they do scam, you get a nice little phone call.

    Um ok...

Who/what would you suggest as the governing body to regulate/maintain this information?

It shouldn't be public as it is very personal.

I believe this was already suggested before and was denied or it just died out.
However, i agree with this, but refer to what determinate asked. Who would be in charge of this? Sythe wouldn't have the time, and the only staff member i would personally trust with this is Matthew, but he runs donations.

I've already done this. Finn asked me for all my details prior to becoming Mod. I think it's a nice thing to have, but I'd only prefer if Sythe/Matthew was in charge of this.

What would be the point? The site can't take action against you and it would just make people look legit even if they really aren't.

edit: I ca understand it in the case of Hahanerd and other ranks but besides that it just creates a false trust.

I do not support this even a little bit. I am a legit trader and I am sure there is a lot of other legit traders like myself that would like to maintain their anonymity over the internet. I do not plan on giving out all of my personal information so people can consider me legit. People can determine who is legit and who isn't on their own by a user's vouches and actions. What good is having all of their personal information? Are you going to go drive over to their house and kick their ass so you can get arrested? It is unrealistic, not to mention people can provide fake information. People can get fake documentation with fake info in real life what is going to stop them from doing it here. Not to mention it would take way too much work. I do not see this ever happening, at least I do not see it happening for the general member base.

If I am going to be giving away my personal information to someone on sythe it is going to be someone that I fully trust, I do not plan on giving it out to the public just so people can consider me legit.

I'd say SMR if Matthew/Sythe can't do it.

    Depends.

    I see. Yeah, I understand.

Lets say you're 12 years old and scam, I'm pretty sure if you get a phone call from Sythe your parents will be pretty upset.

Then don't get verified, it's that simple.

I'm not a huge fan of this. Vouches are my form of verification. If you think I am legit because of my vouches, then do business with me. If not, I will try to change your mind, but you are free to choose. I am 18 years old and am not here to scam, however I still don't want to give out my phone number or anything to sythe.

Well, it would give people a false sense of trust. And if someone else is verified and I am not, they are likely to take my business. Just because I am not ready to share every personal detail with the world doesn't mean I am not trustworthy. I know that is an exaggeration, but you get my point.

Sounds a pretty good idea to be honest, I've seen this done on other sites before and if you're legit then I really don't see what you've got to hide. Maybe this could be done in stages like three different stages of being verified, like 1 been you've verified your telephone number, 2 you've verified more information and 3 been fully verified with contact details, picture, id etc so in this case members don't have to give full information, if you get where I'm coming from?

How does giving you phone number and other personal details prove legitimacy?

I don't agree with this one bit either, personally I think that giving away personal details does not in any way show how legitimate the user is.

    No support.

Maybe not that, but it shows a willingness to take responsibility.
