Why use WU?

I've noticed almost every major gold seller on this site uses Western Union as a payment option. I went to their website and it seems that they have really high transfer fees. Besides that you can't chargeback with WU, why is it such a desirable payment option? If you are trying to avoid chargebacks, it seems that you could just use PlayerAuctions, right?

 

PA has basically an equivalent fee but I believe there is a limit to how much a buyer can purchase in one transaction, Western Union gives you straight cash instead of paypal money, which means it can be deposited into your bank account quicker, and Paypal takes a further fee to transfer money from paypal to a bank account.

If you are putting money in your bank WU is better since you only pay a 10% fee I believe and with PA + Paypal to put money into a bank account would be about a 20% total fee.

 

WU might have high fees but people sell gold cheaper for that method, so you actually wind up getting more gold than on PA/Paypal.

WU is safe - the Seller can pick up cash money at the agent, no waiting 3-5 days for PP to deposit into your bank.

Also, PA has like a 2-5 day waiting period alone to get to your Paypal account.

 

Ah so do you have to have a bank account to use WU? I don't, since I'm underage.

 

Nope, you can pay online with a credit card.

Or you can go to a local agent with cash money, fill out a form and send it.

 

Paypal is unsafe becouse you can easly charge back money after u get rsgp.
but they sell for paypal to trusted sellers , too.

 

Instant transfer. With WU, you can pick up actual cash. With PP and everything else, you have to take days to receive the cash. You can't chargeback with it, etc. Western Union fees might be high for some people, but their worth doing.

 

Same issue, different poison. I don't have a credit card, as I'm underage (don't know if you can get one before 18).

 

Actually WU it's cheaper than PayPal alone for higher amounts, also most sellers offer lower price than PayPal for WU so doesn't really matter if fees are higher, you will still be getting it cheaper depending on the sellers price.

so in order to receive payment, u must sign up a account with WU bank ?

 

Western Union can be charged back if the person sending the money through western union calls it in before the receiver picks up the money.

Thanks for letting us know, I wasn't aware of this. Do you have to "pick the money up" in person? I'm assuming you can just confirm the payment online, correct?

 

You don't need any kind of bank account, just the info the person gives you (country/state/name) a drivers license or other identification and I'm pretty sure you need to be 18+ but not positive.

 

I prefer to use Western Union as a payment when I sell gold because you can pick up the cash instantly after it being sent, It's hassle free. On the other hand, Even if you do sell through P/A. Your PayPal can become limited and you would have to do all the steps to Restore your account back to normal and there's a chance they can deny it.

 

you can go to store and get the money in cash instead of waiting days for PA to send to ur paypal and even longer for paypal to give to u.

additionally, many people dont have paypal...and PA can only pay u through paypal

 

PA supports several payment methods, however PA fee's are on the sellers side.
W/u fee's are on the buyers side unless discussed otherwise.

W/u = no verification problems with paypal and other bullshit either.

OT : Im quite sure as long as the name and MCMT number match the ID you use while collecting the money that they will give it to you.

 

DO NOT ever verify a payment online and then "think its good"...you have no clue if they sent the right amount or $20....

 

And it can still be canceled untill money is picked up.
