Come on, not getting ex mod was bad enough. It's not like I was demoted for something I did deliberately which actually made the site any worse. I'd at least like SOME recognition for the years I spent as a staff member. This is ridiculous.

 

I neither removed nor support the removal of your usertitle, but I would say that you should know better than to post a whiny dispute over something as trivial as a usertitle. Perhaps PM an Admin. rather than attempting to make a scene.

 

I'm not trying to make a scene Finn. I PMed both Verts and SMR, and messaged you on MSN in the past about the ex-mod and I never got a straight answer. Verts and SMR at least replied and said they'd see what they can do, but that was months ago. I'm not extremely upset about not getting the ex mod rank, but when you never get an answer, you kinda lose faith in simply PMing an admin after a while.

 

While this may not be my place, I'll voice my opinion anyway.

We had a similar situation with Hahanerd, and it was agreed that if someone is denied the Ex-Moderator rank, they are not to be given any Ex-Moderator privileges.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but as far as I'm concerned, you won't receive any Ex-Mod privileges (I'm obviously not one who can make an official ruling, but that is my understanding based on previous cases). You as a former Global should understand that we cannot have a double standard.

As a side note, here are a list of things I understand to be Ex-Mod privileges:

• Ex-Mod Rank (Needs to be approved)
• Ex-Mod in thread titles
• Username Images
• Usertitles
• The ability to advertise your former position(s) freely on this site.

The above are the privileges I can think of off the top of my head.

 

I hardly see it as a double standard, I was demoted for not doing enough "right", I didn't do anything "wrong". Most people are demoted for doing things "wrong". You can still call it a demotion, but the way I see them are extremely different.

 

This isn't about why you were demoted, its about you being denied the Ex-Moderator rank.

Like I said in my previous post, my understanding is that if you are denied the Ex-Moderator rank, you are denied any privileges that come with being an Ex-Moderator.

 

Okay, then since I never got an answer for that, consider this a dispute for the rank as well. I had it when I left the one time, how is this any different? I could have just left instead of waiting to be demoted and it wouldn't be a problem.

Honestly, I'm really not trying to start a shitstorm here. I had to resort to making a dispute thread because every other method didn't work. All I'm asking for is a little recognition for the services I gave to Sythe. If an admin would like to discuss this privately, rather than over a dispute thread, then PM me.

 

I don't see why Matt was denied the ex-mod rank. He had it before he came back on staff, in recognition of the work he put into the site previously. His most recent term on staff may not have worked out because of his activity, but it seems counter-intuitive to punish him for attempting to come back and help out the site again. It's basically saying that his recent inactivity negates all the good he did previously, which I'd strongly disagree with. Even if he doesn't deserve the rank for the recent term on staff, he does for everything he did beforehand.

 

I completely agree with this.

 

I think MegaMatt's plea is reasonable and should be given the rank back, if my opinion changes anything.

 

My understanding when I first posted here was that he was denied the Ex-Mod rank after his demotion.

I would say that MegaMatt has never been demoted for attitude problems or reflecting poorly on the site; simply for inactivity, for which I'm sure he has good reason -- we are all at busy and pivotal stages in our lives. Having said that, I don't think it's appropriate to return continually with the promise of activity only to be demoted time and time again. I have no problem with you receiving the ex-mod rank for your past contributions, but would make a point of stating that you should not return unless you're going to be active.

I also accept your comment about me not responding fully on MSN - I have been busy.

 

Thanks for the response, Finn. I would like to point out that I only returned to staff once, but granted, your point is still valid. I won't say that I have no desire to return to staff in the future, but if I ever present a request to return, I'll be sure to take my future lifestyle into consideration and how much activity I'll be able to maintain (if I'd even be voted in).
