Is it wrong to be shallow?

People tend to say being shallow isn't unacceptable, but I find this ironic as the majority of people are shallow themselves. Sure there is an extent that being shallow can become very hurtful but in the end aren't we all shallow in some way?

 

There's a fine line for everything. The thing is most people don't see it. -_-

right, but who is to define the meaning of "depth" within a human?

depth could be looks just as much as depth could be kindness.

yes, i do think that it is bad to focus too much on outside appearances when there is so much more to yourself and others.

I think that we all have some depth but we choose to present ourselves in a shallow manner.
perhaps this is because it usually meets with a more favorable response then when one would present their true self.
this may be self-perpetuating because, as the in-group bias tells us, we will in most cases treat the familiar better than the unfamiliar.
put simply, we are used to interacting with others using these superficial/shallow identities, and so when we are presented with something different, we kind of freak out due to factors like not knowing exactly how to respond.

 

Being shallow is just being yourself. You cant help it, its who you are. and no one can tell you who you are is wrong, inless your breaking rules and laws.

 

In my opinion, being "shallow" is sort of a stupid concept. People have preferences, and just because yours are more physical than mental doesn't make them wrong. It's completely natural, even if it isn't the best way to be.

 

I assume people are shallow because throughout the ages, we have looked for the best features in a sexual partner to pass on good genes, and think it is the same way now. It is not wrong to be shallow.

 

Is it wrong to be shallow? Yes and no, Everything is good in moderation. Judging a "bad guy" by his looks I.E Scars and such and just LOOKING bad, People call it shallow but it's not without reason. But being so shallow it drastically affects you and people around you no.

 

If you are shallow, it is not your fault, so no.

 

Whats wrong with being shallow?

Everyone wants the best of everything, just because someone looks dazzling, doesn't mean their personality is dogmatic.

Putting it very bluntly:

I've seen people that look ugly, and have a crap personality.
I've seen a mix.
I've seen people that look stunning, and have a brilliant personality.

Of course, It is never good to pre judge someones personality based on their looks, but going after someone who looks good, isn't necessarily bad; it's human nature.

 

Personally i dont think its bad to be shallow it jsut means you have high standards and want something better in a relationship. If people weren't shallow then it might be a crazy world.

Not entirely true. On the contrary I think that is why this is a crazy world.

The only support for this I keep seeing, is "Its human nature".

I advise you think about it again. Lots of things that are "part of human nature" are wrong to a limit.

I hope someone sees what I mean here. I would be rather disappointed if no one does...
