    "Block Out Your Name"=Spam

I've seen the same case scenario countless times, people will post on a thread saying "Block out your name or JaGeX will ban you", this is NOT TRUE. JaGeX can't legally browse sythe and I highly doubt they would waste their time in doing so. Whether people are posting because they care about your account, or because they want postcount; this should be considered spam.
    Opinions?

People are just worried about security, it's just an opinion really. Some people want to and forget, others don't care, just let it go.

It doesn't happen as often as whiting out name is a common concept even for newcomers. It's just basically a security blanket even though Jagex cannot 'legally go through the forums'. Plus you also don't want people pestering you on runescape while you're still with the account.

What I'm trying to say is that it's the op's choice whether he wants to show his username or not. When somebody comes and posts, it shouldn't be soley on blocking the name. It should be okay to add a side note saying you might want to block your name, but as i said earlier a whole post regarding blocking name should be avoided.

I agree with reporting them as spam. It's not really contributing, and most OP's will if they want. Mind, I only think this is applicable for account sales.

EDIT: I don't agree with this for things such as botting logs or something. If they have posted without the name blocked, I still add a little note (Besides a worthwhile post) that they might wanna consider blocking it.

I think Spyike's even got a sticky some where. It shouldn't be considered as spam. The buyer might want to keep it confidential.

If the buyer wants his user to be confidential, he would've done so in the op/screenie. Please refer to my post above wolfdog, this may clear up some confusion.

    1. Jagex can legally browse Sythe.org. There is nothing stopping them.

    2. You're still correct, because Jagex can't actually confirm the account owner is selling it, there is absolutely no risk in showing the display names. If they banned off of what pictures they saw floating around the web, people would just start making fakes to get others falsely banned.

    3. I do agree with the suggestion. It is spam and should be treated as such.

While a Jagex employee is highly unlikely to browse the forums, PMods and other users trying to gain mod status may report accounts posted here. I think the name blocking tradition should remain, and therefore I see no reason for these helpful posts to be reported as spam.

Someone might forget and the reminder might be nice. If the person if just doing it for the post count then it should be considered spam.

If you think it's spam , just report it as spam and they will deal with it.
