    Bumping dangerous thread - infraction+

    I'm tired of seeing this.
There will be a poster that's posting a phishing link or advertising (one that when seen by mods will be closed and dealt with) and here's what everyone does...
backseat mod posts. "don't click this." "idiot, banned" "reported! gf phisher"
These posts are serving the purpose of letting people know not to click it, obviously, but only one of these is needed. After that single first one, these dumbasses are giving the phisher more views.
Every time someone backseats, it's bumping their thread and giving it more potential victims. I always want to point this out in a post but >_> <_<. I usually add it in my reports (which by the way, after all of that backseat modding, they're too tired to actually report the thread and do anything) though.

    Here's an example. Thanks Sengira<3

EDIT - There's a sort-of-new suggestion about this is what I've been informed. Here's the link.

It'd probably be a pain in the ass to hand out infractions when the spam post would simply be deleted anyways, so there's no gain from doing it.

The best thing to do would be simply to make it known IE; This topic, and hopefully people will follow suit.

    Here's what I do:

    Report

If they're are no other posts, I simply say "Virus, don't post, I already reported"

If there are, and there hasnt been anyone that actually has said ^^ above (Such as people just saying idiot nub)... Ill say the same thing.

If someones reported and said so, I dont touch it

But... If someone has specified that the OP contains a virus and has reported, I dont touch.

Support, but only to an extent

I don't really see it as an issue. If someone views a thread that has 5 people saying "don't download it's a virus" and they download it anyway, my sympathy is limited. No one gets post count from it since it's deleted anyway.

My sympathy is limited if they download it in the first place. By letting people bump the thread it means that myself and other sythe users have to waste our time looking at it. Bumping bad threads hurts content imo. Doesn't the old saying go, "just ignore it and it will go away"?

    ^^ This.

If they see a bunch of posts saying the link is un safe they deserve to get a virus/keylogger/whatever. Let them learn the hard way if there that stupid. No need making more work for the staff team.

Some people don't look at the posts, and just see the title and click on the link. This being the case, a new rule really wouldn't change that. I believe that the rules should stay the way they are, and no infraction should be given to people who post on these threads. Instead, an Announcement should be sent out asking Sythe members, if they see a post like this, report it, instead of just posting on the thread. An infraction is a little too harsh, seeing as some of the people are actually trying to help.

I've been doing this for awhile now...didn't really think about it. I'll definitely stop posting phishing levels...

This is how I usually handle those threads and think that they should be handled.

I do agree somewhat with OP that there should be an infraction for posts on such threads which contribute nothing aside from bumping them such as "idiot".

The post is just telling people not to click on it. I don't see why their is a problem.

This is a good idea, but perhaps there could be something different like: postwithout bumping thread, or something like that, if its even possible?

Btw this really doesn't hurt anything. The users don't gain post count because the thread is deleted and the more users that say the link is harmful the less chance of someone downloading it.

    No need for this suggestion.

Both threads have been reported, probably numerous times.
