I'm not getting any younger and starting to drive.
Please tell me past experiences you encountered while driving, like what did you do wrong, how did you fix that issue?
Obviously I don't want to run someone over nor get into an accident.

I remember when i got my license years ago, i used to have problem following ppl when turning right or left. I pretty much always forgot to look after people on bicycle, running, walking etc. But with more kilometers driven it comes easier :)

Stop at stop signs not past them. Don't tail gate people. Be patient. If you drive to school make sure you pay extra attention because at my school its like 400 teenagers trying to back out, and they all blow at driving

Agreed with post above me, school parking lots are horrible everyone sucks there. Just be dilligent when you drive, I'm 18 and have been in 3 car accidents while behind the wheel. I was never at fault for any of them it just shows though that you need to watch the other drivers.

I was 14 and at a friend's house. We got into his dad's car and he let me drive. I hit his dad's nice brand new truck...now I'm an amazing driver. Never gotten into an accident again. You'll make mistakes while driving, but don't let them keep affecting how you drive. :D

If you need to swerve do NOT swerve into the other lane. Especially with a sheet of ice on the cement and 6" of snow on top of that. Take the hit and swerve into the ditch.

I hit an F150 head on on the way to school one morning. The car in front of me was pretty far ahead of with his right turn signal on. I kept getting closer and he hadn't turned yet, I went to break and started sliding. So I swerved left into the other lane, and I didn't look to see if a car was coming. I was driving a Pontiac Sunfire, and it was totaled. Lucky for me 15 minutes before that a car rolled over in the ditch at the same intersection so the cops went a little easier on me.

EDIT: no one was seriously injured.

Driving is easy. Don't worry about it. The best piece of advice I can give you is assume that at every intersection someone can pull out in front of you. Because even though 99.99% of the time it wont happen, eventually it will. Just be prepared for anything. I have never had an issue ever. No accidents, no tickets, nothing

jaws101's advice is pretty good. Just be calm and drive safely and you will be fine.

The best thing to learn is to pay attention at all times. Like jaws said, a car or person can pull out at any time. There are many distractions when you are driving: radio, passangers, etc. You'll need to learn how to focus a majority of your attention on the actual road. Also pay attention to the weather conditions (slower on snow/rain, keep more distance in fog, etc)

To be honest, you can be taught how to drive by someone, but what really makes YOU the driver in the decisions you make on the road, you kind of have to teach your self, well - not fully but find were your comfortable at doing what your doing. It'l come in time and maturity.
