Donation Site Of The Month

While Sythe needs its money to keep running, and donations is one of the key ways the website get its needed cash, there are other organizations that also need money, and I think Sythe should encourage donations to non-for-profit organizations as well. I think Sythe should make a post every one or two months for an alternate donation site such as the ASPCA or American Institute for Cancer Research, and fowarding the donation reciept to an Administrator who will then give you the appropiate donation tag. There could even be different tags, an example would be this picture of the earth in somebodies hands. By donating to other causes as well as our own, we can contribute and save many lives as well as this sites.

The badges that they give out on this site are things that associate with Sythe.org, for example, just because I am Moderator on Powerbot (I'm not), doesn't mean I get a Moderator badge here. So, just because you donate to somewhere else, doesn't mean you warrant a Sythe donation badge. Plus, I see the donation badges as a way to prove someone's legitimacy, as a scammer/evader wouldn't (and can't) donate $25 to a site they're going to scam on. In short, don't support.

As for sperate donation badges, that might be an option. My only objection is that it really doesn't have anything to do with Sythe.

They would rather spend the donation money on better servers.

 

Maybe a Portion of each donation could go to that. One dollar on each donation wouldn't be hard to manage. I like the idea

 

This is a really good cause. But, I don't see this happening, sorry.

 

Could be a realy good idea. Rather than donating to a non-profit site such as a charity site e.t.c, what could happen is each month or every 4 months, sythe members vote on a charity to donate to, and then even if it is like $0.10 of every $1 goes to a charity that the members have chosen. That way sythe still gets the funds it needs, and the charity's will also benefit. Since this site does in a way generate a certain profit/income from advertisements, the donations would be tax reimbursable so the charity's will be able to get the whole amount of the donation.

 

Technically the donator would be donating to Sythe and Sythe would be donating to the charity so the donator would deserve a 'Sythe donation badge'.

 

I don't see it happening. I remember a while back when we were having a lot of server issues and people were bitching about getting new servers, Sythe himself came on here saying this site barely breaks even as it is even with all the donations/ads.. so I don't think it would be in the budget to be able to do something like this.

If the upkeep of sythe weren't a concern I'd support.. however, I'd rather have good servers, so no support.

 

Just like the majority, I can't see this happening unfortunately.

 

Good worthy cause, but no support sorry, there are more important things here on Sythe to worry about.

 

I would support but like Christmas cracker said they need it for better servers ect.

 

I f you want to donate to those organizations I'm sure there is a site to donate, no need to do it on sythe.

 

This is a cool idea but I don't see it happening. A user title would be cool though.
