No legit caper wouldn't support this.

 

You can edit any photograph you want.. I can log on my own account, type exactly what I want it to say, hit enter, find a screeny, and edit my text into that photo as such. Just because you hit enter doesn't mean crap. A decent scammer could put the effort into manipulating the ENTIRE chatbox to make it say what they want it to as opposed to chopping one 1"x1" square and thinking they're a champ. I could take and find the "You drink (1) dose of your potion" prompt, and add that to your "cape verification," and shazam! The only thing rules do is make people better at finding ways around them.

It stands to reason that 12 year olds that lurk around this site suck at scamming, and as such, their attempts are so futile it should just be ignored and dealt with accordingly.

Regardless of regulating the Fire Cape service section, you'll still have the same amount of filtering, spam, and scams. There is no avoiding it on a website dealing with virtual goods. No one cares about the repercussions.

edit: Not saying I'm against the suggestion, I just think it will not solve your issue. It comes down to judgment. Any A-Hole with CS3/CS4 and a good rendering talent can satisfy any picture requirement you want. Just look at spriting, I did it for a while, it doesn't take much to blend an outside object in with a background.

 

It's not about 'solving' the issue. It's about making the issue less severe. Like the OP has said before this will 'weed out 90% of the fire cape scammers'. Your referring to the 10% that we really can't do much about.

 

I hope you spent less then 5 minutes on that.

wow how did someone not think of this earlier. Not many people will be perm muted and will reduce a massive amount of cape scammers.

Read through, think this is an awesome idea, the only people it really doesn't benefit are the scammers and people who don't know how to use the screenshot function, in which case, they probably can't get a cape anyways.
