"Rare" Names

Every name is just as rare as another name because 2 people can't have same name.

My suggestion is rare names be called unique names.

 

I don't see the point of changing the name. Imo it can still be considered a "rare" name. It is rare because it is old chances are, and it is hard to get a username like it. Most rare names for example "Cow". Well there will be another named C0W that is not rare, you can change the letters around in many many ways to try to get it to say cow but it is not the same.

Technically, you're completely correct (even though saying unique names would just have people being like oh "suck me jagex" is unique and funny lololo) but most people get the gist of 'rare' meaning names such as cow, rooster, etc.

 

If all names are equally rare, why are some people willing to pay inordinate sums for them?

No, there are degrees of 'rarity,' and that is what justifies the calling it a Rare Name Shop as opposed to a Unique Name Shop.

 

Yes there is a word for rare names, its called "original names". Cow is original, cow2838 is not original.

I'm already trusted in the market. I've made over $100 and 100m RSGP in less than a month...This topic is just spam tbh. Read what I said above (replying to Onex's quote). Post count means nothing btw, never understood why people spam to get post count.

 

You could also argue a name is only as rare as a buyer thinks it is...so therefore there are no 'rare' names as such...

OT: I think rare is defined quite well on Sythe. There are many arguments you could put up against this but I don't think it will just anything, just my opinion.

Rare names aren't 'rare' because they have mundane discrepancies that make them different from every other name... they're called 'rare' because they're plain fucking awesome.
