    Wireless Router problem.

Alright so my internet works well with my cable modem.

When i plug in my wireless router with it, my internet doesn't work nor will my laptop/ps3 pick it up.

My ISP says my router is the problem but i've tried another one that I have sitting around and nothing.

They're Linksys, if anyone can recommend a good router for a good price, i'll be willing to try it.

Make sure you reset modem when you connect router, if it doesn't have a reset button unplug it for 10 seconds then plug it back in.

Are you from the UK, USA or elsewhere, RsSalesGuy? This can really affect what router to choose - for example, in England, I would recommend Virgin Media.

    Wireless Router problem.

Are you installing the necessary drivers/software that comes with the routers?

    Wireless Router problem.

I'm from USA, these routers use to work like charms.

There isn't anything to install, I've used these routers on many occasions before, just not working anymore :/

    Wireless Router problem.

I've had the same problem last week. I talked to my isp (Frontier) and they sent me a new modem free ( it had internal wireless) and fixed my problem entirely.

Could probably be your settings. I had this same problem, but found a way to fix it.
This will only apply if this is your setup:
Phone Jack -> Modem -> Wireless Router -> Computers

Basically, your modem was setup for it to be the 'gateway' to the internet for your previous setup. Once you plugged in your router, it has to transfer that responsibility to your router. There's more technical terms for this, but I don't want to go into it too much.

To change settings, you have to set your modem to 'bridged' and your router to 'PPPoE'. Before doing any of this, contact your ISP and have them walk you through this process as it can get pretty confusing. Either that or google guides on how to do it.

    Wireless Router problem.

For your PS3, try manually setting the information instead of automatically detecting it. With your computer plugged in with your ethernet cable, open up "Command Prompt", type in " ipconfig ", and write down the information under 'Wireless LAN adapter Wireless Network Connection:"

For your computer, type in the search bar under Start: " firewall.cpl ". Click "turn off my firewall". Then try connecting to your wireless signal. If it works, then browse the firewall.cpl menu and look for something saying "Bonjour (service) and make sure it is turned ON. Click "advanced settings" and click "Inbound Rules" and make sure both 'Bonjour Service" items are set to 'Enabled: Yes" -- "Action: Allow". Then find your Linksys router under the list, and make sure that too has the above settings. Good luck! Linksys fails imo though, lol.

Edit: I'm assuming you have a Win7 computer. I'm not sure if these are the exact same on different OS.
