runescape v world of warcraft

I've taken a liking to WoW recently. Though Runescape is still okay in my eyes.

 

I play both WoW and Runescape.

Runescape is very simplistic, it's partly why I enjoy it so much. I've been playing Runescape since late 02 early 03, and it was technically my first MMORPG. Since then, obviously, it has taken off- and become somewhat more complicated, but on the scale compared to WoW it's still down there, by alot. Since the early Runescape days, the community has declined drastically (it's an easy access game, so 'kids' have a better chance affording it.)

WoW is a great game if you have time. It takes awhile to get to level 85, especially now. With proper gear, friends, and a nice guild you can get there relatively quick;but without one it could take awhile. People say that game actually starts once you hit the highest level. I personally have a few 80s and 2 85s. It's difficult to play WoW on a casual basis, because everything in the game takes time (even the daily battleground can take up to 45 minutes including queue.)


If I had to compare the two, Runescape is more of a solo game that you can enjoy with friends. Obviously the graphics arn't up to par with wow, given it is a java client. WoW is a great team game, and offers a bunch of solo options as well. For a majority of the end-game stuff, it is required to have a solid team or group of people to work together for a common goal. Especially PvP. I've experienced both PvP and Raiding on a hardcore basis, but I've tamed the WoW beast since. I still get on occasionally to do arena with friends, or battlegrounds, but not like I used to.

I believe i've spent far more time and dedication on Runescape though

Why on earth would I want to get sucked into a whole new game.

I used to play both and they both suck. I was good at wow and have two 130s on runescape. Runescape makes me money while wow doesnt.

runescape i played wow and i thought it was pretty stupid.

A game i tried and was very impressed with was Darkfall, you can do a 2 week free trial, its like WoW but with more skill involved and full loot pvp

 

I prefer runescape its a lot more fun for me

 

A few of my friends IRL play WoW , they're really into it. They got me playing the trial a few weeks back but I got really bored in the early levels. From what they tell me you only level (efficiently) from quests, and the early quests were boring as shit. It looks quite entertaining and something that I could really get into but I'm not going to to grind up another MMORPG, especially one so expensive. As for everyone who says WoW looks too complicated that's something that interests me, edge pking is very dull if you take away the risk/gain element. I only brid or war with my clan. In a fullout war with like 50vs50 maxed players in max gear with extremes etc it gets pretty complex, I imagine it's not too far from WoW.

 

I prefer Rs for a few reasons

1. Cheaper. let's face it $5/mo vs 60+ for game and $15/mo is a big difference.
2. I;m an rs veteran, and learning a new game isn't very appealing
3. Kill and loot system. Runescape's pvp system is pretty unique and it's what kept me playing all these years.
4. At high levels, the real only things to do is pvp and raid. The issue is, In rs you can do gwd trips in an hour or less. (get kill count, log out for a bit, then go fight boss for an hr with a team.) In wow you need 3-4 hours at a time for the good raids. If i have to play for that long, I'd rather participate in a massive clan war than in a raid vs npc's

 

This is kind of stupid...OBVIOUSLY Runescape is going to be the choice for most of the users here...It's a black market based on ..owait, RUNESCAPE.

WoW, in-turn isn't actually that complicated, my dyslexic 15 year old brother can play it, heck...my 9 year old cousin can play it, and understand it.

Runescape is for people who like a chill, easy to play simplistic game. I personally play Runescape and have since 02 but I've also played and enjoyed WoW, WoW as a whole is the better game graphics, pvp, pvm, skills are all better in WoW than on Runescape.

But runescape is the more affordable, simplistic option so it'll win hands down in this community.

But i prefer WoW.

...Then again guild wars 2 is going to bring them both to crisis.

 

to me,Rs is a joke compared to wow.

 

In my opinion WoW is SO much better then runescape. Graphics, Gameplay, the entire feel of it. But when a person who hasn't played the game looks at the spellbar of a level 85 it's going to look like the hardest game ever, but the thing is you learn as you level to the point where you know what to do and when to do it. But runescape has one thing over WoW in my opinion and thats in the fact that there's so many skills that interlock with each other as opposed to just professions.

TL;DR WoW is better overall, runescape has skills which makes it really fun too.

 

Could careless about WoW, I'm just passing my time with RS till SWTOR comes out and I'm done with the game forever.

 

Funny thing is, that's the default UI, look at a UI used by someone in the top guild

 

wows actually not hard all theres less to do then in rs tbh
