What should I do with my money?

I'm 17 turning 18 next week and I have over two grand saved up and I'm making good money as I'm working full time during the summer. I'm going into the military soon haven't chosen which branch but it kind of makes me hesitant to buy anything big. I'm spending money on things like hanging out with friends etc and am by all means having fun so don't just tell me to go crazy with it. My real question is what would you do with the money if you had it if you were in my situation "Make responses detailed don't just say invest.."?

I'd wait until after you graduate from whatever branch you go into. Your family will probably give you a decent gift after that, then you can spend the other 2 grand

 

Well, If I had the money, I'd spend like 500-700 on a party for a few friends. Just get some booze, weed, and blow for the 4 of us and spend all night havin a good time. That's wasteful though, so I would save the rest until I had enough for a motorcycle.

I'd either save it and put it towards a car, or build a really really nice PC in the ~1300 range, save the rest. For $1300 you can build pretty much top of the line, but meh that's just me.

 

Well unless you're making money on the computer, it would just sit there. Sortof wasteful. But then again, so was mine.

 

Rather than build a PC, id say get yourself a decent laptop, a portable hard drive say 1 or 2 TB which can be picked up quite cheap these days and then just enjoy yourself with the cash left over. That way, you can use your laptop at your barracks and get the portable hard drive filled with all your favorite films and tv shows to pass the times when your sitting around doing nothing for hours.

 

I wouldn't buy a car if you're going into the military. I'd wait. You can spend it on something military specific. i.e. a socom set for an M4 or a paint job for your plane...or whatever is relevant to your branch/MOS.

 

Let it sit int he bank while you're in the military that way it's safe and you earn interest.

 

Get some new threads (Clothes) for the summer, & maybe a cheap 110 pit bike to mess around on.
Also if you have a lady friend, spend some cash on her...not too much though.
If not, get a nice chick and do the above, s'always nice to treat a lady.

 

Go to overseas. Spend your the money.

 

I would definitely buy myself a few nice things, but not too expensive. The rest I would just keep in the bank as back up incase I ever needed it.

 

what lol this makes no sense. Anyways i would spend it on a new computer or maybe put a down payment on a car.

Hey man, I'm pretty much in the same situation as you haha. I have about 2 grand saved up right now, I'm 18, but I'm not going to the military. I'll be going to University in the fall. I think that you should save it. You'll need that cash later on in life. Right now it wouldn't be smart to just blow it all or most of it. If you have something specific in mind that you've been wanting for a while then spend some on that, but not too much. You earned that money so spend it on something for you. Personally I'm probably just going to spend some on clothes and just save up for my future college expenses.

 

Put it into a saving's account the eco is really bad atm save it untill eco is up or you really need it.
