Why are VPS so popular for botting?

I've heard a lot about VPS's and I know that people use them for botting, but I have a lacking understanding of why. Like, can people use a VPS to run dozens of bots w/o the use of their own computer?

If someone could give me a better understanding of what they're used for, or link me to somewhere where I can, it'd be great.

 

You can bot 24/7 on multiple accounts and not have your computer on.

Dozens of bots would cost alot of RAM ($) though. But if you were botting something useful then you make it back.

That's pretty much it.

 

So I just set the bot up, turn computer off, and their server would continue to run the bot?

Do you know what kind of VPS I would need for botting?

 

You don't need a good RAM to run the multiple bots if you have a VPS

= profit?

You'll need puTTy and VNC Viewer and all that.

 

that sucks having to use a vps, my laptop can do 20 bots without struggle. No wasting money to use someone elses server = more profit for me

 

Just the fact that they are stable and not everyobe can afford a $1500 computer with high tier components.

 

Yeah no way in hell I can run that many. I've ran 5 before without trouble, but I know it won't get 20. Probably have an awesome computer mate

 

Yeah, I understand pretty well now. Was looking at the sticky on this forum as well and found www.seerhost.com which to my knowledge specializes in RS botting. Looking forward to getting one soon.

A vps is essentially a remote computer hosted in bulk. People like them because they run 24/7, sustained power and internet connection, and are cheap enough for the bots running on them to pay them back.
