    Weird CPU temps o.O

Over the past few days I've been having BSODs while playing certain games and I just chocked it up to them being torrented copies, and shit. I noticed that my CPU temps were massively off than they normally are. I idle at around 45c, which is pretty typical, but load in prime95 is 100c+ (I cut it off at 100c, too scared to let it go much higher than that lol).

It used to be like a maximum of 15c variance from idle to load temps, just last week. I haven't fucked with my heatsink at all and it's properly seated and all that. I'm thinking maybe my thermal paste is shitting out on me, but I have no clue. I don't really have money for a better cooler atm, so if nothing else I'll just wait till I can buy one and just tone down my performance.

AMD Cool 'N Quiet or whatever is on (turned on to see if it would improve, no difference

Reversed all my overclocks/set everything to auto, including voltage, slight improvement in idle temps, load is still 100c+

Not sure what else I can do at this point, open to suggestions. My CPU fan speed doesn't really seem to change much either, sits around 3000-3500 RPM no matter what the temperature is. Before I reversed my overclocks it was at 5000+ RPM. No idea what I could've changed to fuck that up, there was nothing about the fan except for the Cool 'N Quiet thing, which I changed AFTER the RPMs dropped, so I doubt it's that.

I think your best bet would be to check your sensors or replace them.. Because this has actually happened to me before on my computer and I replaced my Temp Sensors, and put some thermal shit under my CPU on the motherboard and my temps were fixed. Try that and let me know what happens. If all else fails, I got a buddy that might be able to help you out on a gotomeeting. So let me know.. E-mail me or whatever @ [email protected]

I dunno I doubt it's the sensors seeing as I've been having strange BSODs here recently too. It very well could be my thermal paste though, I'm probably gonna bum some moola off of my dad and head up to radio shack tomorrow and see if they have any Arctic Silver 5, and see if that improves my temps. I'm also hopefully working out a deal to trade one of my pures for a Corsair H70 though, so I hope that works out lol. Best case scenario right there.

100c seems pretty hot for a cpu. I assume you keep your system clean and the dust to a minimum because it's just common sense that that can cause your PC to overheat.
The H70 will do the trick if it really is running hot, It lowered my load temperature by over 40 percent..
And changing the thermal paste is never a bad thing to do. I always use Arctic Silver 5 from Radio Shack.

How long does it take from the time you boot your pc(from being off for a couple hours and cooled) until it reaches undesirable temperatures?

Yeah I'm gonna try to get some Artic Silver 5 in the next few days. And it doesn't get to unbearable temps unless I stress it by playing games/running prime95 etc. As long as I take it easy, temps stay a reasonable 35-40c after I reversed all my ocs and tuned down the voltage etc.

Buy a Coolermaster Hyper 212+, $30 and will do wonders. :)

I would but it's freaking massive. I'll have to do some measurements but I'm pretty sure it won't fit in my mid tower (it's on the lower end sizewise)

Hmm, theres a lot of slimline coolers, where are you located? I can find one for you on a website if you want. :)
