Does Jagex still do IP Bans?

I bought 5M for one of my pures and when I was talking about it with my friend, he said if I were caught not only would my pure be banned but I would be unable to log on because of an IP ban. Now, obviously there are ways around this (Proxies), but does Jagex really do IP Bans?

 

You're not going to be noticed for just buying 5m, and that's not the type of offence an IP ban would be issued. You're safe.

They only ban the accounts on which the offenses were committed.

 

I've heard a few storys about other accounts being banned from botting on other accounts.

Havent heard anyone complaining of a IP ban for a very long time now tho

 

If the other accounts profited from the account the botting was done on, they can be punished.

 

The only instance in which i've heard of IP bans being issued is major account hijacking (such as Chessy's) and major bug abuse.


For 5m, I'd bet my ass you wouldn't even get banned on the account you bought it on, nevermind your ip.

 

They don't IP ban unless you're like a goldfarming company or something extremely bad. Even then, changing your IP is as simple as restarting your modem or calling your ISP.. it's not worth the effort on Jagex's part.

 

Jagex hasn't IP banned anyone in years I don't think, unless you seriously jeopardize the game.

I don't think Jagex have ever done Ipbans.. They don't mean much lol

 

They should have started doing them years ago, number of scammers, flamers, kids, and ad bots would be reduced dramatically by now.

 

I know they did do IPbans like 4 years ago. But as many other people said its way to easy to just chagne your ip... there for i think Jagex has given up on them.. Either way, theres really no need to worry...

 

Na, most people can't be assed changing their IP half the time anyway.

 

It takes literally 30 seconds to turn your modem off and back on and for it to generate a new IP. If it meant being able to play RS, I think I'd take those 30 seconds. Even more so if I were a business advertising my goldfarming site, etc.

Only time I ever heard of someone being IP banned was when that one guy was able to attack people in fally during the fally massacre.

 

As most people have said, they most likely don't do IP bans anymore. Even if they did, it's as simple as resetting your modem to assign yourself a new IP. I know they used to do them years and years ago, but I think more people must have had static rather than dynamic IPs back then.

Also, to anybody wondering about having other accounts banned for offences committed on linked accounts:

They won't ban your other accounts unless they have some type of tie to your other accounts. These ties usually include but are not limited to: advertising a clan chat your main owns, giving your main gold, supplying accounts with botting gear from a main, etc. It's all pretty obvious stuff, so as long as you're careful not to link two accounts together while one is doing something illegal, you should be fine.

Really? Because I have turned off my modem every day and it has had the same IP for the last 7 years.

I think you were talking about a dynamic IP address. Mostly in the UK we have static, which hardly ever changes. I think you can ring up your ISP and request for a change but they are very suspicious if you do.

 

I heard they did that for botting, but I have not witnessed anyone saying he got IP banned.
