Precalc Help (Vital to Passing/Failing the Quarter)

Hey guys, I have a final in 8 hours and I still am a bit confused on a few things. Hopefully someone can help me out!

Trig Identities

Simplify: Cosθ/SinθCot^2θ

I pretty much have no idea where to begin on this one.

Simplify Cscθ-Sinθ/Cot^2θ

Same deal here.

For the first one you can simplify cot^2θ into its sin and cos components and it looks like it cancels out.

For the second, you can do the same with csc, use an identify then cancel out. Try it out and if you're stuck, post what you have so far.

 

I think I might have gotten somewhere on the second one.

Cscθ/Cot^2θ - Sinθ/Cot^2θ

Memorize your Trig Identities. For the problems, look for patterns and/or just write it in different ways until something clicks.

 

I ended up just storing them in my calculator.

 

May I just ask what Csc is?

I'm not familiar with that abbreviation in the context of this notation.

 

Cosecant

 

Cosecant=1/sin

 

honestly dude the best thing you can do is memorize the conversions and formulas
without them youll fail, and if you know them youll be alright.
tip: always break things down to their most simple elemnt
ex: cot to cos over sin
