    Actually, this is not what they did.
    So they're saying you can't use virtual money (I.E. RSGP) to purchase real world items, such as cars, cell phones, iPods, etc. Not the other way around.

    Not really. It doesn't mean you can't pay a Chinese company real money for some RSGP, it means that, in China, you can't trade RSGP for a car.

    So, I guess it stops people from gold farming to directly trade virtual goods for tangible goods. But it doesn't stop them from selling the virtual goods, and then buying real ones with that money.

    I suppose you are right, but I don't see why a person would trade RSGP/items for a tangible item such as a car for instance, when they can just get straight cash, then buy it afterwards.

    They probably had a tax issue with chinese people accepting RSGP from gold farmers for stuff. A business in other countries would think you're crazy but over there so many people do it...
