OGV Applications for Guide Reform!

Alright guys, for those of you who are unaware, some changes will be made to the guide section in the RS market. I will be facilitating these changes, with the assistance of Kero heading up the OGV team.

Our first step in reformatting the section: hold applications for official guide verifiers!

Qualities we are looking for:

-Maturity
-Activity
-Responsible
-Trustworthy
-Community/market involved
-Some degree of RS knowledge

If you think you fit the bill, then please fill out the following form with honest, detailed responses.

Fill that out and post it here. After a few days Kero and myself will go through the applications and see what we think. For now we are looking for 6-8 OGVs to add to the team.

A few things to keep in mind:

-The OGV team is being started over from scratch. If you WERE an OGV, you are not any longer, and all perms to the OGV private forums should be removed shortly. If you were an OGV and would like to be one again, include that in your application.

-There will be NO RANK or SPECIAL permissions from being an OGV outside of access to the private forums for the section. It is just a chance to contribute more to the site and demonstrate some responsibility.

-You must be willing to abide by the process and rules for verifying; if you verify a guide that should not have been, you may be liable to refund the persons who purchased the faulty guide.

-Do not apply if you are not serious and/or willing to put in the work verifying guides frequently. We will change out OGVs as frequently as necessary if someone is not pulling their weight.

How active are you on Sythe? I am usually on multiple hours a day.

Are you willing to verify if necessary multiple guides a week? Sure, I can verify as many as I have time for (Multiple a week).

Why do you think you are fit for the position? I have been a Runescape player since '05 or '06, and have a nice amount of knowledge about the game. All of my friends also say I am very responsible and mature.

Anything else we should know about? I am a nice person in general, but if I feel like someone is scamming others in selling the guide, I will not let them sell it. I also do not currently have a useable paypal which is mine, but if need be, I can use some of my family members/friends' paypals. I can also make a gmail account if that makes my msn more secure.

I'm glad you guys are finally doing something with the guide section reform suggestion. I think that there is a lot of changes that should have been made to the guide section for awhile and I am pleased to see you are starting something up.


How active are you on Sythe? I am VERY active on sythe. I can honestly say that I spend a good 3 hours in Sythe everyday at a minimum amount. Realistically I spend around 8+ hours on Sythe. I would also like to add that this time spent here is hardly ever me just afking, I genuinely can say I spend my time here doing something constructive opposed to just browsing around or being idle. I spend my time here offering a lot of help and advice.

Are you willing to verify if necessary multiple guides a week? I have plenty of free time and I would be more then willing to verify guides in my free time. I would actually look forward to it.

Why do you think you are fit for the position? I am highly active on both playing Runescape and the sythe forums. I have extensive knowledge when it comes to most game-play aspects of Runescape and I have moderate experience in the market. I only have around 50 vouches however I feel that I have a very good understanding of many market aspects. My Runescape character is nearly maxed and I have many high level skills, I should have no problems figuring out or understanding any guide when it is Runescape related as I have played for nearly 7 years. I feel that I could bring a good amount of knowledge and be able to contribute very well. Not to mention I feel like I fit all of the criteria mentioned: -Maturity, Activity, Responsible, Trustworthy, Community/market involved, Some degree of RS knowledge.

Anything else we should know about? My activity is bound to rise even more as my school begins to end. I personally think that I could be very helpful with this new guide reform. I am very glad that this section will be overhauled, as it has needed some sort of an update for awhile. I hope I can use this as an opportunity to help out the sythe community. Are you willing to verify if necessary multiple guides a week? Yes, i can do it on my spare time and take expert decisions on RS based guides.
Why do you think you are fit for the position? I've been a community member for ages, i've seen just about everything. I've played RS for ages and just the same as i'm here i know in game.
Anything else we should know about? I'm profesional when i need to be and can handle requests and read through well put together guides, take them apart to see if legitament and provide a good service for sythe as i normally stick to the market based section only.

Defiantly! I will be willing to verify any type of guide, just as long as I don't have to download anything that can be potentially dangerous to my computer.
Why do you think you are fit for the position?
I have a lot of knowledge about runescape and sythe's market sections, with many vouches and not one scam report on me. I've been legit on here for over a year, and as summer is coming I have a lot more time to help people in this community, even more than I already do.
Anything else we should know about?

How active are you on Sythe?
I usually am on Sythe for 30mins-1h at the moment, as I do a lot of browsing, however, now I have restarted my skilling services and MMing, as well as membership every so often, I should be getting on for 3-4 hours a day.
Are you willing to verify if necessary multiple guides a week?
I am willing to be on just to verify, any guide that is to do with RuneScape, and I would live up to expectations, verifying any guides that have requirements under 50M, otherwise I'd have to leave them to other other OGV's.
Why do you think you are fit for the position?
Over the past few years, I have become skilled in the legit and botting sides of rs, knowing a lot of hints and tricks. However, I would like to involve my current trustworthiness in giving something back to the community, as I have a lot of potential, and spare time.
Anything else we should know about?
I would also like to add I have numerous RuneScape accounts that can be used to verify guides, as well as over 10 different bots, and a really good computer, that could do further testing on moneymaking guides, taking a 10h average if it could be botted. I also would like to say that I would be doing this for the benefit of guide sellers on Sythe, not for any personal gain.

How active are you on Sythe? 5-10 hours daily over the summer. I check 20+ times a day now and am usually on for multiple hours (on and off all the time that I'm home). I will be on daily all summer except for a week where I am traveling for work. For the next schoolyear I will have much less work and I plan to be on Sythe for multiple hours daily. If appointed as an OGV or any other position, my activity would dramatically increase multiple hours a day.

Are you willing to verify if necessary multiple guides a week? Yes, As a student, I have little to do over the summer. I will be able to spend many hours a week verifying the guides.

Why do you think you are fit for the position? I'm known in the community. I've done $5000+ of trades and MMs. I have a good knowledge of runescape and gold making methods in the game. I am an intelligent person who goes to a top school. I have a very strong sense of justice and I will not take any shortcuts, even if they offer monetary values or border on being moral, that would put someone else at jeopardy. (I.E. getting scammed on a guide). I know this is sort of narrow, but one day I hope to join the staff of the site to help out in the market, so I'd work as hard as I could at guide verification to maintain and improve my reputation on the site.

Anything else we should know about? I ran my own site which had a runescape-type market. I've unofficially verified multiple guides on and off sythe. I'm a very good investigator (for possible evaders/scammers), even without moderator IP tools. I have a very high level account and many lower level accounts so I can verify all types of guides. I own 10+ bots. I've previously been considered to be a market moderator because of my ability to be dedicated to both Sythe and the pursuit of justice.

Why do you think you are fit for the position? I've been active on runescape since about 2002 and I know all the ins/outs of the game. Also I take guide verification very seriously, and I would be sure to thoroughly test any guide sent to me for verification before I approved it, and didn't just give it a thumbs up because "in theory" it works

I'm on sythe for most of my free time each day. When i'm not at home i always have my ipod and sythe is loaded on to it. I'm on sythe for easily 10+ hours a day.

Are you willing to verify if necessary multiple guides a week?
I'm willing to verify any and all guides that may come into my jurisdiction. I know that this is a large job and im not after it fir just the "rank" i want to be able to help this community and i see this as a great way to accomplish that.

Why do you think you are fit for the position?

I'm not going to say i'm the best choice possible for the job, there are many out there that would be far better at it then me. However, i have been playing Runescape since it's creation and know enough about the game to be able to tell if a guide is good or not. I look at the guide section a lot and feel like I would be a good candidate because I know the rules for the section, I know what constitutes as a good guide.

How active are you on Sythe?
I am very active, it is very rare that a day goes by without me checking up on Sythe, weather it be on my phone, or on the computer. I have a lot of free time, I don't devote it ALL to Sythe, but I've always got the window open when I'm on the computer.

Are you willing to verify if necessary multiple guides a week?
More then willing. It would be my job to do it, and I would do it to the best of my abilities.

Why do you think you are fit for the position?
I'm very trustworthy, which is a key attribute when it comes to dealing with items that can be sold for money. I like to call myself very knowledgeable when it comes to Runescape, I've been playing it ever since my early life (About 04-05). I'm active, so if anyone was to message me on MSN they would receive a prompt and helpful request. This doesn't apply directly, but I've written two guides of my own that I've sold that have been successful.

Anything else we should know about?
Not really. I'm a CA but I don't want to bring that into it as I feel ranks don't matter much in this situation. I'd love to be put in this role, and would do a great job at it. I know the game like the back of my hand (6+ Years of RS)
I'm pretty active on the Runescape section and I have a lot of Runescape knowledge. (I know where places are, how to get there, best ways to train, etc.)

Anything else we should know about?:

I work part time and it can be anywhere from 1-3 days a week, which shouldn't be a problem.
Also, I have no Paypal account (If that's needed for whatever reason, then I'll make one)
Although I'm not the guy with over $10K+ handled, I'll try my best.
Even if I don't get picked I'd just like to say it's about time something happens with this .

I'm now active on Sythe around 4-5 hours a day and I plan to keep it that way in order to be more supportive to Sythe!
I'm out of school for the Summer and now have a large amount of time to myself everyday.

Yes, I'm an extremely fast reader and can understand just about any form of the variety of user dialects.
I do daily checks of my email and Sythe, if something needs to be done. I'll be sure to have it done.

I know the game extremely well.
I've been a member of RuneScape since 2005, and still have my original account!

I'm extremely honest. I have no problem being straight up and blunt about the situation while still staying professional.
I'd classify myself as a more Mature member. I don't like to flame other users and try to respect everyone.
I've ran multiple communities, I've helped them grow and watched them peak at activity. I've donated a few communities after owning and being responsible for them for years. I know how markets work and have found myself fairly involved with Sythe's Market ever since I joined back in 2007.

Extremely Active, Currently am a Guru with over 1,450 Post Count, 135+ Vouches worth nearly $10,000, and am a 50$ Donator. Also, now that I'm done with finals and back home, I'll be spending a lot more time on these boards.

I have absolutely no problem doing so, I am almost always signed in on MSN or on Sythe, so individuals that write guides should have no problem contacting me if they wish to have their guide verified.

Why do you think you are fit for the position
My trust within this community is impeccable, I have never had a scam report filed under my name, and have helped ban plenty of users that I have caught scamming/acting as imposters/evading in detailed scam reports. I have over 135 Vouches worth thousands of dollars that I have acquired for a number of successful transactions including individual trades worth hundreds of dollars.

My personal "Runescape Resume" is quite impressive if I don't say so myself, and I will be outlining it at the end of this post.

Anything else we should know about?
My extensive and in-depth knowledge about Runescape is what I believe sets me apart from all of the other applicants. I have experience not only in the skilling world, but in the Player vs Player aspect of the game as well.

If chosen as an OGV I will make sure everything written in the guide is tried and true before I stamp my verification and approval onto it.

I also am an active member on several other Runescape Guide Sites, most predominantly Zybez/RuneScape Community. I will ensure that the guides submitted for verification are exclusive only to Sythe, and were not pirated from various runescape help sites.

How active are you on Sythe? I'm on a usual 12+ hours a day, 7 days a week.

Are you willing to verify if necessary multiple guides a week? I'm willing to verify as many guides that need to be verified.

Why do you think you are fit for the position? I believe I may be fit for this position because I think I'm active enough to be able to do this. Also, I usually answer my PM's first; therefore a faster verification. I believe I'm "trusted"; though only in some eyes. I also think I am fit because I know the rules and the guides that aren't permitted to sell here. I've also played RuneScape for 8 years, so I know the in's and out's.

Anything else we should know about?
Well, I have 120+ vouches, and I've had quite a few shops. I've been trusted with $500+ at times.

Qualities we are looking for:

Maturity - During trades or any other contact with buyers/sellers; I'm as mature and respectful as I can be.
Activity - 12 hours a day (during schooldays and over 16 hours a day on weekends/non school days.)

I am moderatly active on Sythe, this can be highlighted in one aspect via my Post per day (PPD). I am also Australian, which means my peak activity point is when most of the 'important' people will be sleeping. This allows me to keep up the forums activity primarily when most of you are asleep, preventing a build up during this time.

I am willing to verify multiple guides weekly, and numerous more if it is necessary to avoid a backlog and keep the workload manageable.


Why do you think you are fit for the position?

I am a fast reader and attentive. This may work for or against me, however I think I have the correct balance between speed and time, where I can efficiently pick up all of the pivotal point to a guide, while not spending an inordinate amount of time dissecting every bit of it.

Many people have cited Runescape/market achievements; I'll deviate from this as my first involvement in Runescape was 2004~

I am trustworthy - While I haven't completed nearly as many qualitative trades as others may have, every trade I have completed has gone exceptionally smoothly, and considering I started out with $0 and 0m, the ability to amass over $400 worth of trades in a few months is I find quite nice.

I am honest - Honesty is one of the core principles I abide by. I will not falter and conform with a group, but rather I will point out any problems I may have and do so respectfully but above all with the motive of truth.

Mature - All I can say is, I am not immature, and I certainly regard myself as more mature than most.

Responsibility - I take account of my own actions, and rectify all issues without employing the use of a scapegoat. Patience I think also tags along, which was evident when I was wrongfully banned. Instead of getting snapping and disrespecting the staff I went about presenting my evidence respectfully, and waited patiently.

Anything else we should know about? not the best at making applications, but my reports show my dedication to sythe, I can't even count anymore how many vaders, hackers and scammers I have found. I'm mature turned 19 recently and heading into the real estate market. Finished first year of University heading off into second.

Anything else we should know about? You cannot measure activity of the number of guides verified. It is a tiny percent that have verifiable guides, especially when you hold the verifier financially responsible if it goes bad.
