Internet problems. Keeps disconnecting every 30mins

    Internet problems. Keeps disconnecting every 30mins

    Well here goes my story. Not this only happens when i'm on my laptop. When I play xbox live I never get dissconnected.

    Well for some reason every 30minutes or so I get cut of. It doesn't go limited access or anything . It just dissconnects me from runescape and won't load anything else. Then recconects me seconds later.

    What could this be?

    Are you using wireless router? If so where is your router located (like is it near a TV or any other electrical devices).

    I used to have this kind of problem and found out that there's interferences from other electrical devices (That are close to my router).

    Another thing you could do (if interference is the problem) is change your wireless channel. If your not too technical with stuff, I would recommend ringing up your ISP they can usually do it from there end.

    But first try moving your wireless router and see if that makes a difference.

    Thanks this could be it. Because I run my laptop of wirless then my xbox is straight from the modem so that would be why my xbox never disconects just my laptop. I'll try moving the router and see how I go . Cheers.

    Well, it doesn't seem to be 'if' specific, so I would assume it's your router. Try a power cycle and see if that improves anything. Disconnect the modem for 15 seconds, disconnect the router for 45 seconds. (unplug them both at the same time.)

    If that does not improve anything, manually reset the router, there should be a button on the back of it. Press this down for 15 or 20 seconds.

    If your problem persists, and you have the funds to spend on a new router, then go for it. If you're on a budget confirm your issues with wireshark, or other promiscuous 'sniffing' utilities. If you can see that the router is no longer functioning, replace it.

    What's your platform, if you don't mind me asking? (I could give you further diagnostics instructions if you wish).
