That's really, really bad logic. That isn't an accurate representation of the majority of pot smokers. It's the same with Muslims, not every single Muslim is a terrorist, but a few bad people have given them a bad reputation. Your logic equates to being surprised by how fucked up an alcoholic can be. It's just as bad, if not worse considering it actually has negative health effects whereas marijuana doesn't (aside from smoking, but remember that's not the only way to get high, and it isn't a direct negative consequence of the plant itself)

I'm not a big pot head, I've smoked like 10 times total, but every time was a good experience and I haven't noticed any negatives of it. It's safer than drinking in pretty much every way imo, and less addictive than nicotine (say it's not addictive all you want, you may not be addicted to the plant itself, but the high itself is addictive, which is good enough for me to label it as addictive)

So I'm going to go with legalization & regulation. It should be similar to alcohol, you have to be 21 & you can't drive high. It'd create jobs and the government would be able to tax the shit out of it and make an assload to help pay off that 15 trillion dollar deficit. It would also hamper gangs and drug dealers. There's really no negatives to legalizing it.

Well I'm on the fence about drinking age as well and therefore if marijuana were legalized, smoking age as well. There's the side of the argument where you can say you're old enough to make your own decisions, you're old enough to have sex freely, get married, serve in the military, etc.. but then also (and this is coming from a 19 year old) the vast majority of people in my age group simply aren't mature enough to handle alcohol freely. That's not to say you, or anyone else specific is unfit to handle it at a certain age, but from everything I've noticed in my friends and shit, none of them really know how to handle it and wind up doing flat out dumb shit. I know that's a common characteristic of anyone who's drunk, but I hope you can see what I'm trying to say. 18-21 is a very vital point in people's lives with school and everything, giving them free reign on alcohol would most likely end up being very detrimental.

So like I said I'm on the fence about it, both sides of the argument have good points, but I think if forced to pick, I'd leave the drinking age at 21.

    I kind of support legalization..
I don't smoke it, and hopefully never will, but I don't think it should be illegal as it's not even half as bad as smoking & alcohol.

If I could swap marijuana for a legal drug, it'd be cigarettes.
But I fear if it was legal too many people would be "high" all the time, which will lead to accidents and such

Weed is Illegal for a reason.
One of the reasons is that they have Hazardous chemicals that can kill for all you smart ones out their that smoke weed.
And Peer Pressure is a big think with Marijuana. I mean half my friends wouldn't have gotten close to Marijuana if it wasn't for Peer Pressure.

only reason i stopped smoking is because i am under "possible drug testing" as part of an interview for my internship.

there are many ways to get around the illegality of marijuana including but not limited to medical excuses and marijuana substitutes.

I personally only smoke the substitute (which i get from my local head shop or hookah bar) when i know that i can't be smoking the real deal.

as to the claim that pot is only for potheads and dropouts, i scoff. im a sophomore at cornell university with a double major in international business and marketing.

In itself, weed isn't harmful on your body. It only becomes harmful when you ingest it by means of smoke, because any type of smoke is carcinogenic.

Yeah it doesn't have a harmful effect on your brain either if you use it with moderation.

I got caught smoking weed when I was in High School once and they made me see the school district's drug councellor for an assessment or something.

She wasn't a good councellor, she basically told me that weed isn't even bad and as long as you don't smoke too much all of the time, any damage that it has done to braincells, etc. is completely fixed within 24 hours.

Looking back on my earlier post I was still quite new to the whole smoking pot crowd. I'll do sort of a pro/cons thing here.
    Pro's.

Since my first post on this thread I've begun smoking a lot more regularly about 3 times a month is plenty for me. I've actually told my Mom and Sister I smoke pot and tbh my sister was pretty cool with it since she smokes almost everyday and my Mom has been smoking for god know's how long.
I've met at least 5 people through smoking pot who I now talk to pretty much everyday and I've actually starting helping out around the house more like an example is that on the long weekend I got high pretty much all weekend and ended up doing all the shit I had to do in one night.

    Con's.
For me at least the day after I smoke weed I usually don't feel to good, not really a sick feel just sort of lazy. And sometimes I'll forget to do something pretty minor like not closing the bread after I make grilled cheeses.

Those are just what's be going on with me since my first post in terms of my Marijuana stoof. Also what kind of a High do you get? I get sort of a chilled out make some food play some videogames or watch a movie high.

It's a conspiracy theory man *puff puff*

I think it's not legal because the government can't make money off of it. People can just grow their own.

I agree it should be legalised, the amount of money the government would make is unreal - they would make over $3 Trillion every year from just tax...

I don't really give a fuck what anyone else thinks, yeah probs should be legalised but then everyone would be baked as fucked... I got some mean bud right now, but I got to do shit today so I ain't gonna touch it. With in reason it should be, but most people would go crazy and just get baked all the time not like they don't already..

I support the legalization of marijuana, but at the same time, I don't want to see it everywhere. I want it to be like smoking is now. Keep it to yourselves, keep it out of restaurants, stuff like that. And to be honest, it wouldn't do much to boost the economy. It may help to tax it, however it also will cost a lot of money to prosecute the people who abuse it, such as driving under the influence or something like that. It is a mind altering drug and it should not be widely promoted. And just for the record, I don't think alcohol should be promoted like it is either.

I think that people should be able to make their own decisions on such things. In Holland, it's legal, and it's not really that much of a problem.

If people get braindamage, although I don't know if any scientific proof supports that, then it's their own fault. Let people rule their own lives.

Just to add to the thread...as some may have read before I am a heavy smoker....or pothead lol Well recently I started slanging medical marijuana since its the good shit in Cali and not many people have their cards...I have to say I'm surprised at what kind of customers I get. I don't sell to kiddies, they annoy me and I honestly don't believe many 13-14 year old kids can handle it right. I met a group of 18-22 year old college students that went to UCR and MT Sac, a few stay at home mothers, and the one I didn't expect an old man I couldn't tell or ask what his age was, maybe 70s. These were people around the blocks in the neighborhood. I didn't expect that half these people smoked. It showed to me how many more than I thought people are smoking on the down low. Its been an interesting few weeks..=]
