Registering

I had a lot of problems while registering.
I had to go back at least 5 times to edit the captcha I apparently had wrong.
After clicking submit the page said exactly this: " Are you human? ".
That really pissed me off.
There were like 2 captcha's and they were impossible but I finally got it right.
Staff, you might want to edit that for new incomers. I'm not sure if anybody even spams registrations so what is the point of that?
Anyways yeah I just had to let that out.

The are you human asks you for the 3rd letter of the alphabet.
And the Captcha is in place to reduce bots from spamming accounts.

250,000 people passed those captcha questions.

There is thousands of vBulletin spam bots. If the Captcha were to be removed, within the minute we would see hundreds of bots begin posting. Also Captcha is a company and that company randomly generates the images to type, so there is nothing Sythe can do to change them.

 

I'm sorry you had trouble registering. However, I don't think we can do anything to ease it. Like Scottayy said, the captcha images are not something we can control. As for removing it together: this is simply not an option. As a site with 250,000 members and tens of thousands of daily page views, a lot of spambots would love to post here if they could. I delete a good handful of them every day as it is with the present security.
