Anyone have Warhammers?

Just curious, if anyone on Sythe owns Warhammers as they're popular around parts of Europe/U.S.

Personally, I have about ~$2,000 worth, maybe more that I'm looking to dump on eBay well soon.

 

Mind posting pictures? I collect medieval weaponry, don't have any warhammers.

 

They're not weapons.

It's a tabletop board game. You build and paint your own army. Each army has a codex (set of rules for types of soldiers/vehicles/army background/etc.

When you have a decent sized army you can battle someone else in the store "Games Workshop" On a 2 by 8 foot table filled with terrain.

Basically there is a moving,shooting and combat phase. You roll dice and depending on the type of unit will determine what you need to roll to hit and wound.

Example: All units have point values, so you know that you're even with the opponent. You guys can decide to play a 1,000 point game. Which means you can use up to 1,000 points worth of units in the way you would like. They are divided like HQ/Troops/Elites/Heavy/Support/Fast Attack.

Different units have different weapons/armour that determine their strength.

It's a pretty time-consuming hobby. It is NOT things you just go buy at Wal-Mart or w/e. This stuff is pretty expensive.

I know someone into warhammer, sounds like a pretty interesting game if you have the time and are into that stuff. I myself have never played, but I have played a game called Axis and Allies that has a combat dice system.

 

Yeah it's actually pretty fun, but I have moved away from friends that I started with plus there's no store near here.

i have at least 2 grand worth... i was big into them 3-4 years ago and recently have been into warmachine which is simliar to warhammer.. great stuff i played chaos, spacemarine, tao, imperial guard... um come to think of it i played them all lol

Nice I've played Chaos and Daemonhunters. In Fantasy I played Bretonians.

 

i used to like warhammer when i was 10, then i grew out of playing with toys.

That's funny because they won't let you buy the stuff and use their store tables unless your 13+. They're not really toys, more of a hobby, a pretty expensive one.

 

Was this the game that Andy had on the 40 Year Old Virgin? Where he was painting them.

 

it is a therapeutic and expensive hobby

i only have a small 600 point army with tau atm

also, to all the ppl who discount this as a kids game.
each model takes around 5 hours to apply the base paint, use an exacto knife to smooth some edges, put on your first coats, second coats, touch up and then glue together.

keep in mind, this whole unit is less than an inch long. it takes incredible patience and a steady hand.


then again, you do sometimes get kids who just buy a whole set on ebay that are already painted.

Tau can be a crucial army. I've estimated my Grey Knights to be 6,500+ pts. I also have a 1-2k Chaos Marine army.

 

I've acutally never heard of this game before.

Why is it only for freaks though?

 

The same reasons RS,WOW, and COD are.

 

I have met a few people that play Warhammer when I lived in California.

For some reason all the people I met that played it were...very eccentric
