Tbh, army combatives is just a gi version of MMA. And yes, I will be going pro eventually. I have a few months of intense army training, but after that I will get back on track.

What weight class do you normally fight at, 145? Once you turn pro, just keep working your way up, you'll get there eventually.

 

Technically I have always fought at 145, however half of the time my opponents would be like 155 at weigh ins, and since I am an idiot and just love to fight, I would take the fight anyway (and still win lol).

Honestly I have no idea what the fight world will have in store for me over the next few years.

Right now Im in Ft Benning, and Ill be training at Matt Larsens gym as well as a ton of the various combatives gyms on post.

Benning is in GA, its the home to all army combatives so there are some legit dudes around here. I just made the Benning competition team as well, meaning I am training pure mma/combatives for the next two months, full time, while still receiving regular pay. Its pretty fuckin sweet lol

Where are you normally at though?

 

Im from WA state, and I trained at a small gym there, not well known or anything but the main coach is a black belt so I learned most of my BJJ from him, and BJJ is where I make most of my money in fights. For example, I fought in the army combatives tournament and won 5 wins in a row with submissions, 4 of which were all under 25 seconds.

 

I see. What belt are you in BJJ?
Also, was the quick subs b/c your that good, or b/c they do not know how to defend subs properly?
