to further explain some things about "join date"

im posting this to further inform a few people on join date.

more and more often i see people saying that they joined in 2005 or that they wont trade with people who joined after 20xx.

join date means some things sure, but it does not in anyway show trust.

what i mean is say i made an account on sythe and never logged in,but got the urge to come and scam someone 4-5 years down the road,or lets say i take advantage of a way to get forum accounts, which many of you probably know, then i have an account from 2005 that i didnt even make.

i think join date should in no way help or hurt ones trust,i constantly see people with less than ten vouches or under 100 post and so on boasting that they are a 200x member.i will assure you no member who actually has other means of showing they are even the slightest bit legit will boast about joining before you.

    thanks for your time.

Trusted isn't something that is obtained, and worked for, not something that is shown. People put their join date in their thread titles to obtain views, which they are allowed to do. It is up to each individual user how much they trust the other users on this site. Don't let titles, ranks, talk determine your level of trust for someone. If you think something is dodgy, don't trade with them. There are plenty of avenues to buying / selling anything on sythe, you don't need to deal with those that seem pushy.

Join date doesn't show trust but it does show that some one is untrusted, there is no way that some one who just joined is trusted. You have to earn your trust which some one who just joined obviously hasn't.

i joined 3 months ago and have 600+ post,so what? an old member with a low amount of vouches is just as bad as a new member with a low amount of vouches.

join date, post count and lower rank donations mean nothing to me on sythe, it is so easy to get your post count up by spamming threads since most people dont report spam or threads which have been brought back from the grave, it is pretty hard too earn trust around here so i suppose people do what they think will help the trade go through smoothly or in the way they want it to.

Join date means only as much as any individual person puts on it. Nothing more, nothing less; its entirely subjective, however typically not the best indicator of trust.

I'd rather trade with somebody that joined 3 years ago than 3 hours ago.

I agree with this. Join date in no way shows trust on its own. Okay, if someone has been on the site for 4 years and has accumulated a huge amount of vouches without scamming, it adds to their "trust" factor.

The older you joined, it means the longer you've been on sythe without getting banned or scamming people. Join date does matter.

to further explain some things about "join date"

I came across Sythe back in 08 and decided to create an account, I can't even remember why I joined. It had nothing to do with the Black Market of Runescape, as I wasn't even involved with all of this until a few months ago. When I decided to do some trading on Sythe, I decided to create an account, only to find out my Email was already linked to an account. I then remembered visiting this site a few years ago, and then used this account.
So in my case, Join Date doesn't mean a whole lot. I think it's not so much that your trusted because of an old join date, but that you should be cautious with trading with someone with a new join date.
