Randomly received acc in RS - have questions

I was randomly given an account on RS and I worried that it might be some sort of scam or trick.

Here's what happened:

Random guy messages me saying that he's bored of RS and wants to give me his account.

He proceeds to tell me his username and password and logs off.

I tried the username and password, they worked.

There's nothing of value on his account, some good stats, but no items of value.

I checked his offences, he had been black marked previously for account sharing/selling in a similar manner to which I received the account.

He has no recovery questions but he has registered an email to the account.

I have since changed the password, added a bank pin and attempted to assign a different email to the account but I haven't received any email to validate the change of email.

Is my main account at risk of being banned or hacked, etc? If not, how do I secure this account so the original owner can't recover it.

Also, how can I change the IP address displayed when I log in, hotspot shield doesn't seem to work.

he will most likely recover it or he hacked the account and wanted u 2 log in so his ip didnt show up

 

but the guy messaged me, wouldn't he have had to login, in which case his IP would show up anyway?

 

He'll wait until you put money on it.
Then he'll recover.

 

He wants you to put all your items on his account then in a few days he will recover it. Go get it banned that will teach him.

 

haha ya that was the first thing that came to mind, is there anyway I can secure the account so he can't recover it?

also, how do i get rid of / change the ip address thats shown when I log in. I'd rather not have him see it, although its no biggie.

 

You can't secure it. Get it banned.

 

He most likely hacked the account from somebody, but didn't want the last IP logged in to be his so he gave it to some random person so your IP would show up when the original owner recovered it, instead of his own.

if I keep the account and the original owner does happen to recover it he will obviously see my IP right. If he then reports this, is there a possibility that my main can get banned?

Basically is there any harm if I hang on to the account?

 

Some guy gave me a lvl 93 with some good stats like over a year ago by now and i still have it. Just change pass and set recovs and email, and just sit on it for a while.

 

but if the account is recovered and the owner reports my IP, is my main at risk? Should i just give it away like I received it?

 

also.. since my main was told the username and password via private message jagex could link my account right?

 

Jagex is far too lazy to do anything to you. I would just bot 24/7 with a shitty bot while using an autotalker that speaks ridiculously fast saying "Report me - I'm botting" and get the account banned and then LOL. He's probably just trying to get your money if you put any on the account, so good on you if you get it banned.

 

your safe... this is probably a trick though.. he waits for you to transfer stuff on his account and recovers it

to remove the email there is a quick and simple guide how to remove unknown emails i suggest reading it its in the runescape market -> free guides -> how to remove an unknown email

 

ok bro ill tell you what hes up to

FIRST : he will wait for you to put money on it -- this is a normal scam
SECOND : if he is smart he will try recoverying your main account you were own by using your i.p address and most likely email or something trust me they can due to new recovery system
THIRD : people saying he wants your i.p address to show on it but when jagex does a scan back your i.p address didnt take the items his did


what you can do to prevent is-- go onto your friends computer log into the account on that computer and dont touch the account

second do the same step but this time if you have bots from rsbot use unsigned and bot that account

 

bot the acc and get it perm banned hes gonna recover otherwise

 

the email removal trick doesn't work. I'm guessing Jagex has realised and blocked it because it says i have to wait 2 weeks for my new email to be validated if I don't unvalidate the old email address (which i don't have because it belongs to the original owner).

the account i received has really high stats.. couple of 99s.. cb lvl 130+...i don't really wanna get it banned :3

Since it's such a high profile account I'm worried that the original owner might be really pissed and get me screwed.

Get the account banned. No one would want to give an account free. Usually, people offer free accounts for other people, to scam. They wait for them to store gp or something valuable, and recover. Therefore, I would say, get account banned.
