advice please :)?

Hiii, im a slayer in runescape. I find slaying and clan wars to be the most enjoyable things runescape has to offer.


My stats are
99 str
86 att
80 def
70 pray
91 hp

I have low defence for my level... as well as low attack i guess you could say.

I have a 90M bank... but i was just wondering.

Should i keep my d defender for my shield slot to go with my rapier?

Or should i up my defence since i have sortof low defence, and get a dragonfire sheild?

Any advice would be greatly appriciated. thanks !

 

If all you do is pvm and clan wars raise your def, if you see yourself pking or staking keep it low. Just saying

 

I would just max the account because you like to pvm and there is nothing better than a 138 killing at 89 in clan wars.

Don't get the DFS unless you need the defence bonus, but since you're questioning your defence I assume you do need it. Personally I'd get Attack/Defence up, there's no real reasons not to.

 

Since your Defense level is lower than the other combat stats of your I would suggest going with the Dragon Fire Shield opposed to the Dragon Defender. Although when using your rapier it is nice to have the extra stab bonus of the Dragon Defender, the Dragonfire Shield provides you with a very nice Defense bonus and a strength bonus that is better than the Dragon Defender. The extra Defense bonus helps a lot with your lower level in Defense too. With a DFS you will be nicely secured while slaying and protected easily when killing at clan wars. You will also likely to be hitting harder than you would with a dragon defender.

Protip: Before you start using your Dragonfire Shield be sure to CHARGE IT! I made the mistake of using an uncharged shield when I was a noobier player and I never was aware it boosted the Defense stats. You can charge it by being hit by dragon's breath.

 

It depends, if you want a better Strength bonus then you should use the Dragon Defender, if you want a better Defence bonus then you should use the DFS.

@scottayy, I didn't even know that only when your shield is charged up the Def bonus is available, thanks for the advice.

 

The attack bonus for rapier is high enough. If you are slaying definitely go with the dfs for the def bonus. If you are fighting something with high def tho, i.e. 200+ cb, then the defender will help your accuracy quite a bit.

 

well, I guess I'm going to go with the DFS. thanks for your opinions guys. but by the way the strength bonus on the DFS is higher than the defender. I can see who said it but whoever said it was wrong. I do kind of need the defence bonus I guess. and I mean if I don't like it I can always ditch it and go back to the defender. any closing opinons guys?

Actually, dragon defender is better for slaying. For clan wars, use the DFS.
