Spectral vs Arcane?

I haven't really played in a while, and I'm not really the rich kind. I've made up to 46.1m yesterday, bought a spectral shield, and made some comparisons. And I'm pretty much a noob when it comes to merchanting and expensive armor/items.

My question is, why is the Spectral cheaper than the Arcane? They both have the same stats, but spectral has 30 magical resistance. So shouldn't the spectral cost more?

 

It comes down to availability. Which one is there more of to saturate the market?

More Item -> Lower Price
Less Item -> Higher Price

 

Maybe people prefer the offensive shield over the defensive shield

 

Spectral gives + 30 magic defense whereas arcane gives + 20 magic attack bonus, many people prefer arcane for the magic attack bonus being the best in the game. A spectral isn't used as often since many people like the strength bonus of a DFS and is only 10 magic defense points lower than the spectral.

 

Oh, I didn't take notice of the Arcanes attack bonus.. I guess I see why it would cost more. I'd use a spectral over dfs because of dfs' negative ranged bonus.

 

Spectral is for those who armadyl and nex that cant afford ely or divines.. arcane's are mostly used for the PK'ers looking for the KO in Max mage, where every bit of damage counts and they shouldnt be getting hit hard if they have their switching down pat.

Also from my year or so i spent at corp, spectrals drop more often then arcanes but not by much.

 

The arcane gives magic atatck bonus. Bast off-hand in the game i believe for magic.

However, now that Nex is out, spectral has become significantly more useful since Nex targets the player with the lowest magic defense bonus.
