What made Party Hats explode in price the past 2-3 years?

Whats the real reason?
Was it cause Chessy lost her bank?
or was it her merchanting clans?
what made phats shoot up from 400m to 1B
anyone know?

 

Inflation due to PVP statuettes caused a ton of gp to enter the game, which in turn caused almost every item to rise. Naturally, the more expensive items rose more (as they are more safe from price fluctuations due to inflations).

 

value of gp decreasing due to advancements in bots and economic mechanics (ie. merchanting) etc
in the grand aspect of things, most things are in the same porportion of price now as they were 2-3 years ago

 

They haven't actually increased, the value of gp has decreased.

 

Of course phat will rise naturally, but I'm talking about the dramatic spike that occured in the short period of time, any rares jumping 500m+ before stabilizing is unnatural right? what caused this

 

I don't much about RS economics but I would say also that the value of GP decreased. I remember when gold was 10$= 1M.

OT: I agree with most people. GP used to be $3+/m, now it's $0.70/m.

Money mainly comes from alching, with hundreds of thousands of nature runes being made daily and alching bots available to nearly everyone more money is being created daily compared to before.

I would have to say it's dating back to pvp statuetes, they made everyone who could 76k's bank explode with wealth. Herby in a form and same with prayer are there to bring down the extreme wealth of many users.

i think people have noticed how rare they actually are, making everyone want them, causing prices to go up.
also how the number of them is decreasing all the time

 

To be honest, partyhats aren't rare at all.
Look on RS Forums, EVERYONE has one. High level players, etc.
It just seems rare because there's so many players these days, but they're extremely easy to come across if you have the gold.

 

What do you mean because there's so many players these days? Dude 2 years ago there would be 150k+ online right now minimum, even a year ago.

 

Having a phat forum avatar means you owned one at a point in time... My RS avatar is a blue phat, but I sold it long ago.

As for why they went up, I would say they haven't much. Sure, the GP price of a blue phat is well over 4b now, but it is worth one third as much (in dollars) as it was 18 months ago when it was over 4b then.
