You need to activate windows. Press resolve now, and activate online or the phone. If it doesn't work you have a bad product key. There should be a sticker on your computer that looks like this:
    http://www.petri.co.il/images/xp_product_key_1.jpg

Put that product key in and it should activate.

Yes way, he did just post this. Not everyone spends their life on their computer.

OT: What WTP posted should solve your problem, how did you come about the operating system for your PC? Did it come pre-loaded, did you use a torrent/warez or did you buy it from a store/online?

My dad has the same problem, if you bought it from a store and you tried to put it on 3 computers or more, it will automatically disable the Windows on the first installed computer.

What the heck is this? HELP!

It use to happen on my brothers computer, and we ended up buying a copy but my cousins fixed it by bypassing it with "Resolve Later" Also try google a lot of guides on how to remove it without downloads/ purchases. These will only work if your copy of windows is genuine.

Also this should be here: http://sythe.org/forumdisplay.php?f=295 a lot more people will be able to help out there

That's wga. Either your OS was never registered with a key, or you had some virus or misconfiguration that failed a wga test. Sort of like the ones your system is forced into having when you update it, or install msn or whatnot. This will corrupt the system, (wga for xp is fairly recent) and I'm unsure how you can 'untrip it'. But afaik with vista and 7 once you fail the test the system poisons itself and you are forced to do a reinstall. If you have the option of entering a registration code there's your golden ticket. If not, you better pull the pop can off your xp disk and insert it into your machine for a re-do. xD

It is Microsoft saying you did not purchase that copy of windows.

To fix this you would have to call Microsoft and give them a CD key or maybe a serial number to the computer you've purchased.

If you don't have either of those numbers, you could maybe try to re-install windows with a installation disc.
