Can I be hacked on RS over Skype?

Hey, I was just wondering if I could be hacked on RS over Skype? My friends on RS and some other people I don't know very well want me to get Skype but I've heard of people having their accounts hacked over Skype.. I just want to know whether my accounts will be safe if I'm only using it to talk to people?

No, just by talking / chatting you cant. Even with a video chat, your fine.

You can however be hacked over skype if you accept unknown files / links.

I,e java drivebys and keyloggers.

Just be weary.

There was a thread on this, someone said they got hacked through skype and didn't know how.

I doubt you're going to run into that though it could of been a troll, just be weary on the file transfers etc.

You can't get hacked if you don't accept any files, click any links etc.

 

You can get hacked through Skype on a Mac with a recent vulnerability exploit. Should be patched in a few days though if not already.

 

I heard about it too, be sure to be careful when chatting / calling with random strangers.

Yes you can. It is a very complex process though and I honestly wouldn't worry about it. And they actually aren't hacking through skype. They are just getting your ip address and hacking with that. But I don't know many people that can do this and I really wouldn't worry if I were you.

 

They may not hack you from just chatting but they can get your ip information.

 

IPs are easily obtained through Skype, but the worst that can happen is you being DDoSed.

 

That would only be a minor irritation if you have a dynamic ip.

only thing they could do is get your ip address, wait for you to gear up in bank and then attack you and ddos for bank

 

Use Skype through your Cell Phone and see if they still want to talk to you after that lol.

 

You can't accept a Java driveby on Skype? They don't use Java to run Sythe? You get a Java drive by loading a fake RS web-client and clicking 'Run' when a Java window pops up. Which is fake and basically turns into a huge hack.

Anyhow, no you'll be fine. However, they can get your IP-address with certain programs and where you live is displayed on Skype; ZIP code + Country + Email - what if their trying to recover your account?
