Partyhats dropping under 1b?

agreed as more kids "farm gold" more money is available which means more competition for the same item= more people will pay more money for the item

 

'all other items' won't rise even if gp is inflated. GP is highly inflated now yet armours/weapons are dropping (more are coming into the game) and edible items such as lobsters and swordfish are significantly lower than what they were five months ago (probably due to bots). The only things that will rise long term are rares. Things such as torva and divines may rise in the short-long term but should eventually drop like other items - dragon claws and DFS for example. All Jagex would need to do is bring out an update which made it easier to kill these monsters/boss's.

I just hope that a small % of the runescape players are gobbling up a large % of the gold which comes into the game daily - through buying it/staking/pking etc.

Lol, Gp is very very easy to make now. The mass of bots will decrease the price of rawr materials like runes, ores and wood.
But they will not decrease the price of Rares. As rares are just getting rarer and rarer and gp is just deflating. So NO phats will not drop price.

 

Honestly, when people are paying $1000 real money for one and that is one of the only ways to get one then the price will never fall. More members will be goldfarming, in turn equals more gp in the market thus reducing how much 1gp is worth truly in Runescape. Party hats will remained pinned at max price.

 

They may fall, but over time they will only continue to rise.

 

As long as inflation is up by as much as it is right now, phats will not go below 1b.

Bot's aren't CREATING money, they are farming items and selling those items. The items that are sold are drove down in price, but technically speaking gold is not CREATED. You get gold created from the old PvP system, GWD etc.

 

Simple fact as already presented by many in this thread. The easier it is to obtain/move wealth, phats will rise to well beyond the current street price. I've been playing the rare game for many years and flipped all my rares for phats when free trade was released.

 

Finally! Someone in this thread who actually understands economics and is not a 13 y/o pretending to understand it.

Gold is created by the following ways:
Selling items to stores
High alchemy
Monster Drops
Quest rewards
Randoms

This is a very simple way to look at it.
You need to look at the long term effects of gold farming.

I'll touch on it, as I could write an essay.


Lets pretend there is 1000B rsgp in Runescape.

All the prices are priced accordingly everyone is happy.

As you said, the items bots generate get added in and destroyed in the economy, so nothing is done, other than the conveyancing of commodities.

This is where you stop, and I start.

Lets say bots decided to bot 100b worth of rsgp.

They would then exchange their commodities for RSGP, and in turn have 100b rsgp. What has happened, is that RSGP in most cases has essentially been DESTROYED from the economy. If the bots do not pump it back in for recirculation, market shifts occur and they stabilize with the current 900b RSGP.

See where I'm heading?

When you decide to sell your RSGP, or pump it back into the economy,1001B is now circulating through economy (Hi alch, monster drops account for the 1b). So what does this do? Inflate prices as the 1b that is generated, and the 100B that has essentially been created is now being pumped back into the economy.

Thats a very rough overview of what really happens. Want a perfect example?

Supply (low) - Demand (high) = Price will increase.
Supply (high) - Demand (low) = Price will decrease.

And this is the barebones of the subject, and people wonder how to merchant in rs, those two sentences above, are all you need to know, plus i bet people have bought complicated useless guides as well.

Its simple, the more people that have the money for partyhats (the more demand there is)
With it being a rare, jagex arent just going to put more Phats into rs, so the Price will rise!

Here's how it is. Rares skyrocketed because once free trade came out the rich ass players, like chessy, win all day, whatever hoarded the shit out of them. All the rares in the game are controlled by about 1-2% of the players, thus giving them almost complete control over the prices.

Look at Santas, chessy got hacked and hundreds are gone, so people hoard them driving the prices up. Rares aren't even "RARE", they aren't hard to get, just expensive. Why were purples barely 60M in 2008, and being traded for 20M junk + cash? I had over 600M back at that time and nobody wanted rares, divines, nothing expensive, it was junk. I'm sure if you were given 2B to use, you'd buy all the rares you can, thus taking more out of circulation if hoarded, thus driving the prices up. Bots don't affect it, alching doesn't really do shit either, but hoarding and controlling the circulation, why yes, thats the problem.

TL;DR : runescape isn't the stock market, hoarding drove the prices up, not free trade.


Oh also an equation for you. Lets say 100 Santas are in the game at a price of 500k. All 100 santas are bought up by about 5-10 people. No santas in game = those who own them can sell for whatever price they'd like. Rares are basically the same thing. Look at the prices of Santas + Masks recently. Hoarded.

There's only a fixed amount in-game.

They'd go up because more people can afford them because of the demand.
