    * SwiftScreen BETA Released! * Screen Shot / Auto-Crop / Image Conversion

First of all, hey everyone, long time no see!

    Now back to business.

    A friend of mine (
ClubEric) and I have been working on a little project called SwiftScreen for a bit over a month at the time of this post. SwiftScreen is a multifunction vb.NET application primarily intended to quickly select a pre-cropped area to take a screen shot of and save to a destination folder, copy to the clipboard, or both.

    But that's not all...

Features SwiftScreen also sports (at the time of this post):
    • Copy captured images to clipboard for pasting into chat windows like MSN/Yahoo/AIM
    • Convert images to and from all popular image formats
    • A recent images tab that saves your last 10 captures for quick viewing and access
    • Auto-updating detected version releases each time the program opens to save you from having to hunt the interwebs for the latest version
    • Ease of access! Just run the program at all times and hit Ctrl + Space whenever you need to snatch that picture in a hurry
    • A nearly fully customizable settings menu for easy personalization
    • A sexy GUI, duh what did you expect?
    Why should you have SwiftScreen?
    • First of all its free for life, so that's a huge point!
    • ClubEric and I are extremely quick to respond to bugs reported using the bug report interface
    • Its has a tab to convert your images in. Nice and convenient.
    • [For this community] it can be used to quickly and easily document black market trades in any browser based or non-fullscreen game.
    • [Also for this community] take in game screenshots with crisp resolution ready to share without the need to open an image editor and resize it down so that things are visible. (trust me guys, I played RS for 6 years and hated every minute of image cropping my achievements)
    • Monitors are only getting bigger, making the print screen button ridiculous because of the size of the image. SwiftScreen solves that.
Because this is the open BETA version, ClubEric and I decided to release it to the Sythe community and our Facebook friends first. We're picturing Sythe and our IRL friends as the epicenter of the program release.

Keep in mind this is still in production as some features may be greyed out because they have not been implemented yet. Don't worry, we're working pretty dang long on this thing and we expect the full release to come out within the next few months.

What we need most right now is quality reviewing. There is a VERY short survey attached to the end of the program (it can be accessed by closing the main screen) that we would really appreciate everyone filling out for us. It'll only take a few seconds and comments or suggestions in the optional comment box are greatly welcomed.

    Thanks everyone, and enjoy.

Looks nice, pretty simplistic, and does what is advertised, I'd like to see some added features, things I wouldn't be able to do with paint if I wanted, such as a rapid image uploader.

Also, the gui is nice, but perhaps drop into WPF and design a completely custom skin to give it a nice touch.

The program can easily be replaced by print screen and crop manually in paint, then re-save and find it to upload. The whole aim of the program is to eliminate all of those (sometimes time consuming) steps and offer a way to replace the steps with one hotkey configuration.

and as for the custom skinning -- this is a great idea for the full release (which we expect to have out in a few months when I get out of basic training).

Air Force. Security Forces. ClubEric is the lead programmer for the team and he'll still be here, at least until I get back.

Its been a week since we released it so I released and update today adding sound effects and some other stuff.

Also SwiftSeller has left for his basic training so I'll be in charge for the next three months until he returns.

I've been looking into adding an upload feature using Imageshack's API function....needless to say with failed results.

If anyone knows a way to upload images to tinypic, photobucket, imgserv, etc... without physically filling out a form please share. :)

I've been currently looking into this myself but can't figure out how to do it either.
Flaming Idiots is quite a successful programmer and he has done it, try messaging him.

It is actually fairly simple with a half decent post script, give me a bit, and I'll see if I can whip you one up.

Looks very nice, but there are several other trusted programs you could use. And I'm not talking about trusted on Sythe.

Thanks man! I would really appreciate it. I can't wait to add this in.

Also, after about 2 weeks of getting various approvals, this program will be available on Download.com (or Cnet.com) by the end of this week.

I've had some luck with imageshack, but since tinypic has implemented the captcha, I haven't had any luck with them yet.

Something beyond our control is causing a bug in SwiftScreen, it can be bypassed by clicking "Continue" on the error window. Please Vist http://SwiftDB.net/ for more info. An update will be available soon.
