    How do you stay up if you have insomnia?

    Sup brahhs, I've had insomnia since I was like 6 years old. but this is like the second time I've ever pulled an all nighter due to it. I tried sleeping for 3 hours last night and couldn't do it so I just decided to stay up.

    I have my "second wind" right now. So I feel fully awake, but I have to go to work for 2 hours today. and then I have a pretty hefty band practice after that, how can stay up through this? You guys know any tricks?

    I cant drink caffeine before any of your guys mention it, I did earlier and why it woke me up I've been going to the bathroom like mad (number 2, not 1). So caffeine is a no go.

    How do you stay up if you have insomnia?

    Well, if you had insomnia it really wouldn't be a problem. I have insomnia and I have to take sleep medication to go to bed or else I just stay up until I pass out.

    Though I have been through this situation, if caffeine doesn't just force yourself to stay awake. Take a small nap possibly during the work day, if possible? Skip out on band practice and apologize if you are too tired.

    How do you stay up if you have insomnia?

    Take a pre-workout training drink, such as N.O xplode, it will keep you up for hours (it has no caffeine).

    I think the real question should be how can you get sleep? If you really want to stay up for that long, an energy drink should do the trick though I suggest getting medication from a doctor for your insomnia.

    I highly doubt you have insomnia if you're asking us how you can stay awake. I've suffered from insomnia for like 6 years now and not once in that entire time have I ever had trouble staying up when I needed/wanted to, even if it was 2-3 days straight. Anxiety while you're trying to sleep is something completely different.

    Anyways.. don't drink energy drinks, they're terrible for you. The safest way for you to have enough energy is probably 5 hour energy. Also the people suggesting medicine have obviously never had sleeping problems or they'd know you either get dependent on them or they just plain don't work. Neither of which sound appealing to me.

    You don't have Insomnia.

    If you want to stay awake without ingesting any chemicals (caffine, energy).

    Then watch TV, or stare at a bright light, such as your computer screen. What this does is trick your brain to think, hey it's morning wakey wakey. What this does on a chemical level is stop the production of seratonin in your body, as you've imitated a physiological process with the light. Also keeping warm will help you stay awake in conjunction with the above.
    What Seratonin does is reduce your body temperature, and ultimately does make you fall asleep. Seratonin is physiologically produced by a number of variables, one being Light, and, higher Seratonin levels are correlated with diminishing body heat.

    TL;DR Look at a bright screen, and keep warm if you don't want to drink energy drinks.

    People say this the same as they have Migraines.

    Most people never experience either.

    Drink lots of fluids, splash cold water on your face periodically. It's difficult to make yourself do this, but if you can exercise for a few minutes, it gets your heat rate up and will help you stay awake. Also, never let yourself get comfortable, don't slouch while sitting.

    I'm doubting you have it really. My sisters boyfriend has it and I've talked to him about it before. Honestly you shouldn't be worried about staying awake if you have insomnia. Your probably just having an adjustment of sleeping patterns.

    Doesn't insomnia mean you can't go to sleep?
    Anyways, I don't recommend taking anything to keep you up. Quick workouts will just make you tired in the long run, so just do what malakang says. Also, is this your 1st time going through your schedule? If it is, you'll eventually get used to your habits and your body will 'learn' to stay awake at times you need it to and will get tired when you go to sleep. However, if this is just a one time event, just do what malakang says.

    How do you stay up if you have insomnia?

    I played a show after being up for 35 hours once, had one energy drink that helped a decent amount, but I wasn't feeling ridiculously fatigued. If you can't have caffeine then my only suggestion would be to drink lots of fluids.
