Was killing Usama Bin Ladin the right thing to do?

I've given this question some thought and cannot make up my mind. Some of you may sit out there and say that I'm crazy and of course it was the right thing. But I'm going to bring up some interesting points that may make you think.

So I was talking with some friends about this and heard a rumor ex Presdient Bush had at least three chances to kill Usama but decided not to. (source:http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,304306,00.html). Before everyone starts yelling "Bush just wants to keep the war going on longer for his own personal gains!", think about how much turmoil we've stirred up by killing these radicals idol. How many people have we just pissed off? How many new leaders have we just gave born to? Did Bush have it right by holding off the attacks? Think about it: what have we accomplished By killing Usama? I feel we've just pissed off a lot Of Al Queda. Sure we gained a few terabytes of information off their hard drive, but that could be porn for all we know, the government won't release it.

Interested to hear others opinions though. Fire away.

Well he was a terrorist that had been looked long time to get caught. He did horrible things and by killing him, he got away way too easily. Thats my opinion shortly.

I personally think no. Sure he was 'known' as the symbol of Al-Qaeda. But he should have received a trial. There were many conspiracies of 9/11. We don't know if it was Osama, or the US government themselves. We had no proof. US also decided to mess with Pakistan, and now the US might have to deal with China if they do something else hastily to Pakistan.

It would have been better if they could have taken him alive but they saw an opportunity to take him out and they did.

You don't fear that by pissing off the people who did this could have arose a possibility for an even bigger attack? The tragedy that happened was a terrible one, but we have put a big fucking cross hair on our country for the next few decades.

We don't know what actually happened in that mansion... but recent reports have come out saying there was only one gun in the entire house and Usama was unarmed the whole time.

If you're going to post, then give an explanation.

You're all assuming he had something to do with 9-11.

Where is the proof? EVERYTHING bad about this guy is just speculation.
THERE IS NO PROOF HE ORCHESTRATED 9-11
THERE IS NO PROOF HE IS DEAD
THERE IS NO PROOF OF ANYTHING

Why the fuck do you people just believe what you're told without proof? It's enraging.

Exactly, the majority of people shoot down the belief in faith based on the assumption of no evidence= no existance why is this any different?

What about the 1998 U.S. Embassy bombings? He was obviously the mastermind of those bombings.

I think that the United States refusing to reveal pictures of him dead is enough proof that this was all faked.

It is true that 3,000 people lost their lives. USA has also 'pissed' people off. Are you forgetting what the USA did to Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also, for those people saying he's not dead, this MIGHT change your mind. Sure it doesn't have a picture of Osama himself, but it has pictures of the raiding operation.

If you think they are fake, then watch this video- http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=7365374n&tag=watchnow

CBS explains the operation in a detailed form.

USA also 'raided' Pakistan. They did not get permission from Pakistan to enter their country. They said they couldn't trust them. So what do they do, they barge on in there. USA only really thinks for themselves, yet they have 'allies' that they barely help.

I personally don't believe he exists, nor does terrorism exist; except the justification of a country terrorizing itself as an excuse to go to War. It's really all a gimmick and an excuse to be in that area in the world because if these so-called "terrorists" didn't exist, we would have ABSOLUTELY no business there.

Read "The Japanese Path to War" and educate yourselves. If they can do that, why can't we just blow up a building and blame others?

True, but he did not personally carry out the bombings. If I tell you to jump off a bridge and you do it, is it my fault for telling you to or your fault for being stupid enough to listen? Regardless of whether or not a leader is telling you to do something, that's no excuse for not using common sense.

This isn't my views on anything else he supposedly did, only for this since he took responsibility for it and there is proof he orchestrated those attacks in particular.

To be honest it would've been smart to just capture him but you have to remember he dedicated his life to his people and probably would've killed himself anyway.

Meh, one down plenty more to go.

It won't stop Al Qaeda. Worth spending billions of dollars to find and kill him?
Meh. I think he needed to be killed, I knew America would get him whether it was in 5years or 50 years.

Also, how do we know he's dead? No proof?

To think he isn't dead is to be foolish. A co-worker of mine has a cousin on the ship where they buried him at sea.
