    Just starting. Need advice!

Hi, I've recently started technical school, and have just finished my first semester. I was in a design program but due to the school no longer continuing that program, I changed to computer science. I have very little knowledge of actual programing. I would like to work with websites and software development, maybe even work for myself eventually. Game development would also be something I wouldn't mind getting into. I just like computers, I like working with my hands, and making things work together. I will say that I am pretty tech savvy.

The actual title of the program is, Computer Science Database and Web Programing Technology. The program "provides hands-on experience with programming languages (C++, Visual Basic, PHP, ASP, and Java) database systems (Access, Oracle, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server) and the design and implementation of web sites." (link to program description)

So what I'm wanting is maybe some advice from anybody on here that might also have an associates degree. Also, do you think I would be able to find a job with a good company with only an associates? Is this a good way for me to start in the programing field? What should I do after I graduate?

I would really appreciate any advice and answers to my questions. Thanks!

I can't give you much advice as i only program for a hobby. (I'm actually a tradesman....kinda ironic)
Anyway the only advice i have is that you stick to one specific field only. If you dip your feet into every type of language you won't learn them enough to be successful.
As you would know by know programming languages are forever changing (and at a rapid rate). So it's alot simpler to stick to one language and learn it quite thoroughly.

Thanks Covey! That does help me. Lol I'm somewhat a tradesman also...well not really...but I have tons of experience in the carpentry field. But I'm fat and scared of heights, so that don't work out to much for me if roofs or high ceilings are involved. I can also get under the hood of just about any car and give it a tune up, or fix small repairs...if big tools are needed I wouldn't be able to work on your car....I have my tool-set (I only use Craftsman) in the trunk of my car. But hey thanks again man, anything helps.
