    Cam Newton: Success or Failure?

Cam Newton was the #1 overall pick of the 2011 NFL Draft. Many people agreed with this selection, but many others disagreed. What do you think is in store for Cam Newton and his career? Will he fit well in Carolina?

    Thoughts here.

Well it's a success in Newton's book, but for Carolina it's a fail. They picked Jimmy Clausen last year, barley gave him a chance and they are already removing him. The Panther's were injury riddled last year so Clausen couldn't do much. Oh, and let's not forget that Newton only through like 300 passes in college.

    Cam Newton: Success or Failure?

Newton is a tough player to deal with. His "Quick" offense style that many college teams are now using (Oregon, Auburn were good examples) doesn't cut it in the NFL where EVERY athlete is top caliber. Might have a tough time sitting in the pocket and throwing quality passes like Manning or Brady without scrambling and trying to rush every play.

He will do alright, I do think if he was in a situation like TP (Almost identical physically) that played under a more conservative passing playbook like the one at OSU he might be a better candidate for a NFL, but we'll see how this works out.

Well, the draft overall was a fail..

ryan mallet to patriots 6th round...

julio jones should of been first round selection..

plus qb's are hugely over rated.

^ You have no clue what you are talking about, or you miswatched the draft.
Julio Jones was taken 6th overall
Mallet was in the 4th I believe.

Anyone see the Lion's pick Nick Fairley? Him and Suh are gonna be the most dominante D-line in the league.

Dominate D-Tackles, not whole line. That goes to Vikings still imo. But, that was an amazing pick at 14. Can't believe he fell that long.

He's going to fail, I'm saying at least 10 picks for his first season if he starts.

If he can hone his accuracy, then he's good to go, but I think he's going to be too scared to make those close passes and will end up running the ball and possibly getting injured because of scrambling/running.

Julio jone's should of been first pick though.

long as he stays healthy, and outta trouble.. we have a better vesion of dez bryant.

and i do know what i'm talking about :)

i just don't like to watch the draft that much.

but i do know this, falcons are going to be amazing.. Detroit long as they aren't cheated of wins will do good.

    cam newton will not succeed.

    1. he has no supporting cast around him. Steve smith doesnt want to be there. Deangelo williams is probably leaving to FA.

    2. he has no offseason.

    3. not in the right system

One year does not determine if he will be successful. See Peyton Manning.

    Anyone remember Jamarcus Russel?

#1 Overall to oakland, played great at LSU, huge guy, sucked dick in the NFL, played like 3 games, oakland released him in 2008 just 2 years after signing him to a monstrous deal,

^ Cam Newton is the next Russel

Possibly. Russell had more than just on the field problems though, he had law problems before that. Oakland is just terrible at picking guys.
Give it time though, Cam Newton has better physical tools than Russell.

    Cam Newton: Success or Failure?

During his meeting at Gruden's Camp, he looked like an idiot. He couldn't give Jon Gruden 1 play that they run. He is freakishly athletic but, in my opinion, he is an absolute idiot.

Andy Dalton out of TCU and Blaine Gabbert out of Missouri are the two QBs on my watch list, and Ryan Mallet as a sleeper to take over after Brady is no more.
