Crack Down On Personal Support Spam

Honestly, I'm sick and tired of seeing people suggest and comment with stupid, useless shit in the Personal Support section.

It pisses me off to see people posting comments like: http://sythe.org/showpost.php?p=8705442&postcount=6

    and: http://sythe.org/showpost.php?p=8699866&postcount=36

My suggestion is this: A MUCH harsher penalty for spam found in Personal Support.

This could be in the form of a warning, then a 48 hour ban, or even a one-week ban, depending on the severity, especially considering the kind of things discussed in PS.

My reason: People who post in PS tend to be fragile in one way or another, and the last thing they need is people posting shit like this.

I feel strongly about it, and a set of regulations need to be put in place, or at least a tougher approach towards spam, most of all in this section, where it definitely does not belong.

    Tez.

If you do see people posting useless spam, just report them and let a mod deal with it. Half the time people who post stupid things are new to the site and just don't know all the rules quite yet.

It's not about the spam. I see it everywhere else. It's the impact that it can possibly have on the OP of the threads.

    i.e. recent example: Skyline's thread.

What if someone had come in, thought they were being funny and said "Yeah, nah mate, whatever ey. Do what you want it's a free country lol003l"?

If the person is already unstable, that's the last thing they want to hear. A one week ban for that kind of thing would make the person think before they speak, a lesson that a fair few people on Sythe could learn.

What I actually get frustrated about is people who give false information.

It's one thing to blatantly spam with those one liner comments, as the OP can easily ignore it.

It's another to convincingly give the wrong advice, and presenting it to be true, which can lead to all sorts of ramifications.

This is not really a good solution for this particular forum. I agree with the OP that there needs to be a harsher punishment for trolling and spamming in PSA. Right now, only globals are allowed to do any editing/deleting in that forum, so it will take a while for them to see reports.

The problem with forum bans and such is that an administrator will have to issue them. Since PSA is Finn's brainchild, I don't think he would mind too much issuing bans to dipshits who are being disrespectful. The only problem there is that we'd just add even more to the admins' workload.

If someone is going into PSA with suicidal tendencies, and people are encouraging it, then it can be escalated to a problem with the law.

I would encourage a report to the police with any ip addresses that have made posts at THAT level of disrespect.

I reported a few posts I saw there a couple of days ago. I recognized the increasing amount of spam and trolling in the PSA forum recently and it is just pathetic. I mentioned in my report that there was a ZERO TOLERENCE policy in that forum, but apparently that is not the care. Although a zero tolerance policy seems strict, the PSA forum seems like the one place that it should be maintained and by the looks of it, that is not the case. Link to zero tolerance.

I agree with a penalty on personal support spam, there are some threads that take a lot of bravery to write out to the public. Seeing spam on them is very disrespectful.

Agree with this thread, some people want actual help from the section, of course some people are also trolls that posts useless fake threads there to see reactions of people.
But those few, who really are after serious help, well yeah.. Won't atleast help those people when people post stupid, useless & flaming comments there.

I agree with the OP a lot of people think this is RS forums and start spamming stupid shit, if a persons fragile it only takes a little negativity to push them over the edge, and the idiot who posted smoke some weed probably read the first 2 lines and was like fuck it just post something for post count. Idiots like that need to be banned. A month ago the Personal Support forum was clean, well from what I remember but now its just getting filled up with newcomer spam, and kids posting stupid shit on peoples threads to get a reaction.

It takes bravery to state a problem even if its over the internet, the last thing you need is an idiot pushing the person over the edge. "Personal Support" is intended for encouragement not to post stupid shit like "smoke weed"

You can always report it as spam.

However, some people DO think weed helps (even some psychiatrists.[sp])

I agree that a stronger system of punishment should be implemented for those who purposely post negative content that can impact those who are very fragile, but also some sort of counseling ?

If they do not know they're breaking rules they shoud be informed so. Course, how can you not know you're not breaking rules if you don't read the stickies! Even than you're just an idiot for not reading them. Just don't come crying back to us after you aknowledgeYahdunfg003d! =P

To the above poster, I don't think counseling is something that we need to resort here on sythe, after-all, it is the internet, people are allowed to post what they wish. I do however support the punishments being increased radically, if someone is trolling a serious thread, there should be no warnings, just a 1 week ban+, if it happens again perm ban them from PSA. My reasonings are pretty similar to those of Tezlin, usually people post in those sections when they are fragile, and one bad post could simply throw them over the edge.

Just so you know, I'm going to personally view the posts in this section from time to time. So far, I already issued one permanent ban from Personal Support. Honestly, it's not a "necessary" section anyway, so I kind of wish I could give a more harsh ban. ;)
