You're more of a graphics artist. Your digital art is not bad. I definitely encourage you to push your stuff out there, people will be interested. But, your design is pretty weak. If you want to be successful making a living doing graphic design, you need to work on your typography and composition. Also you may want to work on your grammar and construction of sentences - many people will turn you down simply by the way you introduce yourself. Nonetheless, I wish you luck. You've got skill and a lot of work ahead of you.

For those of you who don't know the difference between graphic art and graphic design - look it up.

 

Design is far more theoretical as well - whilst art is to look nice, design has a purpose (that is, to attract customers, to get maximum downloads, etc etc). That means aesthetic appeal is far more important, since the majority of the population needs to find it appealing, rather than a small group of artists/art critics.

 

I respect your opinions but i dont believe grammer comes into it, and my graphic design skills not my graphic "art" skills are not shown in my portfolio so you cannot agree or disagree, but thanks for the good luck.

 

Which, not getting too far off topic, was the point I was about to make about his work. He has nice art but his exact 'design' lacks the basics of graphic design.

All of the layouts are pretty much the same content wise. More examples would be nice, with varied styles.

 

Oh, believe me, grammar takes its toll. Honestly, I came to this post because you used the word "hire" completely wrong and I wanted to see what kind of joke this was, or if you meant to use it that way to affiliate with "flew". I almost didn't bother looking.

And may I ask, what is the point of having a portfolio if you don't show flex the whole range of your skills? You are implying that your design skills are not included in your portfolio, therefore we are wrong about our assumptions of your lack of design abilities. Please show us otherwise if that's the case.

Although my words may come as aggressive, don't take this post offensively, I'm simply giving you some of my advice based on experience. I am a professional graphic designer and business owner and employee at another successful company doing design work - so it's up to you whether you take me or any other experienced designer seriously or not.

 

I do Take you seriously but a simple spelling mistake doesn't require a troll.. you made my thread a complete shambles and do you really think people will look at this now? thanks for your help. and yes my content in my portfolio dosnt show my full variety of design work but the quilaty of the graphics shown should implicate my design technique and in all fairness over my learning curve in graphic design i have bound to off come across the graphic design which you specialise in, and my quilaty of my graphic art should imply that i have the same quilaty in the designing. thanks for trolling youve ruined my purpose for this post.

 

Well, for one we are a tight knit graphics community here. Tribal was a previous mod here, we were not trolling we were just correcting you. You really need to get over yourself and realize what we have all said.

I'll say again as I said earlier, don't take my words to offense. I've already stated that you are talented and you will attract people to your work. I also stated what I fealt were appropriate words of advice. That is all.

Wow guys, way to totally fill up this guy's store with a pointless argument. Okay, he made a few mistakes. But I don't believe he asked for help. When he didn't get any business he would have come around.

Riiped, you can hardly trash the guy on his use of the English language when your use is far from perfect as well.

Come on man. Calling him out on grammar, as well as spelling, is nothing but hypocritical.

Now I may be new here, but I do know one thing. None of us are perfect, and neither are our designs. While certainly some of us may be more well versed than others in design, that doesn't mean that what anyone does is wrong.

Lewis, if I could give you a word of advice. You should clean up your original post, and make it look nice. I would then ask a moderator nicely to clean up this topic and get rid of all the useless babble. Its not good for business.

I think everyone is taking this the wrong way. Me and Tr1bal had no argument with his work, only suggestions to make him better. If nobody can realize that then Sythe's graphics community needs major help. And as for commenting on my spelling or grammar, you quoted no major mistakes, fyi. And on top of that, this isn't my sales thread so I'm not here to impress anyone. You can quote MY sales thread and then talk about it, if you'd like. Nobody said what he does is wrong. Nobody said anybody was perfect or not. I think it's cute some of you are trying to play the big daddy and stick up for him, but you're sticking up for nothing because we weren't trolling to begin with.

Just relax guys. And Turnip, if you want to bring up hypocrisy, you began your comment with bringing up pointless arguments.. when 3, 4 lines later you're feeding the fire. Smooth, buddy.

 

For heavens sake this is pathetic you know that i wanted to create a thread to sell my graphics, i didnt want a debate on grammer, style, and whats design and whats art. all i wanted to do was to give graphics to the sythe community is that too much to ask. im going to have to create a new thread and im going to get a signiture e.t.c and "spell" correctly. and this is a trolled thread. but thanks turnip-rougue.
