    Anti-Virus Software

Not sure if this is going to be the right section, but my Norton Anti-Virus subscription is ending on Saturday and I was wonder what free programs you guys would recommend. I'm looking for an Anti-Virus, Firewall, and all that good stuff. I have an idea of some programs, but I just want your opinions.

    Thanks.

honestly i would disk out the money and get a paid one

in the end spending the $80 saves a $500 computer and personal information things i would not be trusting in free ware or trials

AVG Free + Malwarebytes pro is good. If you want epic security, download comodo internet security too.

No way, Norton is the best in my opinion because it even covers suspicious clouds. I download a .jar file from a IRC bot and it actually suspected it.

    Clouds=Extremely low risk viruses.

Most programs have clouds but the hackers encrypt it to make it fully undetectable. ^_^

NOD32 smart security is the best.

    Any test will prove this.

Microsoft Security Essential captures most of the viruses out there and it's free.
Or try the free edition of Avast!. It's a beast.

AVG is extremely good, so if you want a free one go for that. You're much better off paying though, it's better to pay 50 quid for the software that will save you paying 500 quid for a new computer.

I'm willing to spend some money. Just not a whole lot being a college student. Any PAID programs you would recommend other than those already listed along with their prices? (usd)

AVG and malwarebytes. It's not worth spending lots of money. Just don't be stupid enough to get a virus in the first place...

AVG Internet Security works just fine for me, plus I'm behind a 2 firewalled routers.

COMODO Firewall worked when I had AVG Free.

I tried installing Comodo Internet Security, but there was an error. Can't remember what error it was though...

I've tried Comodo Firewall in the past and am pleased with it. Might give that a try.

So far I have AVG and Malwarebytes at the moment.

Looking for a firewall other than Comodo if anyone has a suggestion.

Also, thanks for all the input.

Norton is a great anti-virus software, though if you don't want to spend the money get AVG.
