That's a vague error on windows vista.

What you need to do is grab your vista disk and boot from it, and then select startup repair. That only works 5% of the time. The other 95% you need to reformat. Sorry dude.

Your recovery disk should suffice. It's effectively a reformat disk. You may need to restore to factory image with the recovery disk instead of formatting... It's effectively the same thing in this case.

    I suggest not using Vista.

    Try using a bootdisk though.

Hi my the other computer cannon boot into OS

There's a few ways to fix it. Your most likely cause for this problem would be a dead lib. Another cause would be tampering with windows' resources, that could cause the system to permanently lock itself down.

You could try fixing the system with testdisk.
You could also force a manual restore to correct the problem.
You could create an image of your recovery and create a repair disk out of that.
Worst case scenerio you'd need to completely reinstall windows. (delete all your partitions, make sure when windows is installed anew to run your recovery program and get that squared away for future use.

I usually run small windows partitions on a rare occasion, and when I do I fully expect myself to break something. For the most part, i usually do a 20 gig install, and make a cloned image of it. I can use easus to expand the partition at any time so it's not a big dealio, it's just nice to have an easily applied exact copy of what I have. If you have a handy external drive you could use it for cloning a disk.

Not long ago norton made a neat utility called "norton ghost" that served a similar purpose.

    Norton Ghost Info

It's 5am and my vision is blurry, they ceased production on it some time ago, looks like they're selling it again, I didn't read it but if it's anything like the old ghost you can use it to clone an image of your OS amongst other nice features.

Anyway, if you have any questions feel free to give a pm, I'll check it out in the morn

    Sincerely, 1ce
