    Insomnia/Depression

So yeah, Had some bad news recently. (Won't share, Don't ask)

Ever since I have been in a severe depression.
Girls come and go, Player life-style.
Not how I want to be, It's simply too easy.
I haven't slept in 32 hours as of right now.

Only way for me to laugh is to smoke pot.
I do this every now and then (it's NOT a problem) makes me feel better.

Not taking any meds, Dislike medication as you depend on them.

    What do... What do ?

EDIT: One of the people I hang out with at the pub has just thrown himself in front of a train. RIP.
Did not know him all too well TBH, Does feel strange though.

Sounds like rough times ahead, if you can't sleep I really suggest you take some sleeping pills to help you out. I saw that you don't like taking meds but it seems like it's either that or you crash from pure exhaustion.

As for your depression, what helps fill the void? Try something different maybe, something you haven't done before. What not to do is get into alcohol/hardcore drugs to get rid of that feeling, face it and try your best to get over it :s

Sleeping pills only managed to make me 'crash' during school.

When in a depression, What I want... Is to have an empty head. Thoughts are always going in and out of it and when in a depression... None of them are good.
What I do is watch either Family Guy (Or any other cartoon with terrible yet funny humour) or hang with friends.

Alcohol is not a problem, Hard-Drugs are something I stay away from out of principal.

    Insomnia/Depression

Major depression and Insomnia are for the most part interlinked.

A cause of such depression is a result of Insomnia, so in order to alleviate your depressive state, you'll need to find a way to remedy your insomnia.

However I'm not sure that your an insomniac. Just because you haven't slept in 32 hours doesn't mean you have insomnia.

Describe your sleeping pattern before your event, and what is it now?
Why do you think your an insomniac?

    My sleeping patternt?
    Barely.

For the past few months I fall asleep around 3 AM and wake up at 7 AM.
That if I sleep at all.
Every now and then it backfires and I wake up in the evening.

I highly suggest seeing psychiatrist for your depression. When I was younger I had a really bad depression at some point, having some neutral person to talk to, really helped me out. Theres not always need for meds, but those might help too. Personally I didnt have to take any meds for my depression, but talking to someone helped alot.

For the past few months? So does that mean before it was better?

I don't think you have however, have you had any childhood traumatic experiences? No need for specifics just roughly if you have had any.

This is most likely the cause of your depression, a traumatic experience. I know you said don't ask, but roughly what type of traumatic experience did you have, a break up, a death, job loss, stress or others?

Do you have low self evaluation, self criticism, self hate, self guiltwhen you think of yourself? (If yes, do you exaggerate it to yourself?)

Have your habits changed, such as eating, sport if any, lifestyle in general such (past times)?

If you can remember any of your recent dreams, roughly what were they about?

If you don't feel like answering these questions publicly, then PM them to me.

I think your 'insomnia' is more related to your depressive state so alleviating your depressive state which I think is 'Major Depressive Disorder', will in turn better your current sleeping pattern.

Also if your considering taking anti depressants, don't, and if you do look for one with just Serotonin.

Dysthymia is my best bet, as I don't think your depression is as serious as 'Major Depressive Disorder'.

Psychotherapy would be your best solution. Don't take sleeping pills, as your depressive state is IMO causing your insomnia.

I've talked to you on MSN regarding this, and I believe you need to get your mind off things. (Easiest said than done, I know)

Currently, I've had five CLOSE people pass away to me and I felt broken and wanted to kill myself, I didn't understand my feelings. Though, I've talked to people about it and said to myself "They don't want you to be moping around for the rest of your life about their passing".

I currently think you need to just stay single for a while (tempting not to, I understand the conflict) but it's the best bet you have.

I'd talk to a doctor about your sleeping issue as well.

    Insomnia/Depression

Well last week I had a point where my grandfather was dying and I wasn't able to be there until Friday afternoon, so I didn't really sleep for a few days because we stayed with him overnight and he died the next morning. I was tired and depressed about everything (I have past issues with alcohol and use of drugs) but eventually you will just get overwelmed and have to sleep. I did take Tylenol pm and never got addicted, I take it when I know I can't sleep it's harder than you think when you're depressed and worried I think to get a good nights sleep. Maybe counseling would help?

    Insomnia/Depression

Insomnia is a mental thing. I've suffered from it for 5+ years now. Taking medication is NOT the way to go. Most of them either don't work, or you become dependent on them.

If you work on your depression you will most likely see better results in your sleeping. I've found that the easiest way for me to fall asleep is to keep my problems to a minimum. If you've got less to think about, you won't sit there in your bed with your mind racing, unable to sleep.

As for depression, I've also suffered from this for a good number of years. I've found that my depression and insomnia are related in a lot of ways (one perpetuates the other, etc) so my best suggestions are to be active. Pick up a hobby that you really enjoy. Read a book. Instead of going out for drinks, see a movie or go to a sporting event. Often times going to a bar/pub and getting drunk will make your problem worse in the long run. I'm sure you know this already but alcohol is a depressant, even if it may not seem like it while you're drunk. Hang out with new people / people who you genuinely enjoy being around. Find someone who you can confide in, and talk things through with them.

Best of luck, I know how much it can suck.

I go through depression at least once a year for a month or two. I'm chemically fucked, but anyways. The best thing that helps is sleep. Stop smoking weed, it will keep you awake believe it or not. You might see yourself not eating, that's fine. Your body WILL eat when it really needs to and this will also help you sleep. Your unconscious needs to come to its own conclusion, this happens in time, once it's over with, you'll feel fine again and time will fly. This is something we ALL go through at one point in our lives, some people describe it differently, but just put up with it, you'll be fine. Trust me.. Life will move on and this will all be over with before you know it.

You need something thats long term that takes your mind of things like this. Try playing video games/xbox/reading book(not books that make you think about life)

Brother, I've suffered through it too. I would stay up for days at a time, I remember once not sleeping for two days until I was made to by being threatened taken to the psych ward. I would sit up all day and night just being sad.. Worried really. My thing was more anxiety, but they go hand-in-hand.. Several times I would have rather died. Death would have been a better option it seemed like.

Honestly dude, go get help. Go talk to a psychiatrist. Just having that person there to talk to you who takes a neutral stance and helps you really think things through is a lifesaver. It may not seem like it.. but it really is.

Don't push people away. Go out with friends. Try to find a hobby you really enjoy, just things to do. I found alot of comfort when I found metal, and from that I started writing and even picked up the guitar. I find comfort in researching and buying/playing classic video games, and even praying to God.

When it comes down to it, nobody can make you feel better but yourself honestly. You have to draw your own conclusions about things, know that things you might have done can be forgiven.. Know that the world still turns, tomorrow still comes. If you want, you can add my MSN; [email protected] And I will always offer up an ear if you need it, someone to talk to or even some advice or anything.

    I'm glad you're banned.

OT: Mate, I'm going to offer some advice in regards to your mental condition. I'm not calling you crazy, but if you can read through all this, I'd appreciate it.

Every one has hormones, and an imbalance in hormones can result in severe psychological disorders such as depression, anxiety attacks, severe mood swings, and other things.
When I was in Grade 5, I moved to a country where I heard a story of a man who ran 5 days a week, for 30 minutes through the city central district. At his 6 monthly checkup, it was shown that he had the lungs of someone who had been smoking for 30 years.

This kind of pollution, as well as the FOOD I was eating (bear with me here, I'm going somewhere), resulted in my experiencing SEVERE suicidal thoughts by the time I was in Grade 6 and moving into Grade 7.
Depression, insomnia, random outbursts of crying, and suicidal thoughts were present every now and then, and you could never tell when they would hit.

    How did I fix it?

I changed my diet. Completely. While this sounds easy (or hard, depending :p) , it is actually a severe change in lifestyle that requires the strength to keep going to complete it.

How long does it take? One month.

What's involved? Removing sugar from your diet. Glucose, high fructose corn syrup, sugar, artificial sweeteners.

What happens when you do this? The bacteria, located in your gut, known as "candida", starts to die back and has been PROVEN SCIENTIFICALLY to be one of the leading cause of cancers, ulcers, IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), and various other diseases including diabetes and Alzheimer's.

I'm sorry if it seems like I've typed alot, or it seems over the top, but after 6 months of this diet, I feel absolutely fucking fantastic. I have so much energy, I used to have IBS, and that's gone. My pimples have cleared up 100% and I just feel healthy in general.

I know it sounds like a marketing scheme, but it's really not. I just want to help you. PM me if you want more info regarding anything in this post, and let me know if you want to take this approach. I can promise you it is a far better decision than popping pills or taking drugs to mellow out.

    Tez.

    (please PM me. :p)
