One problem: by forcing this rule you weed out most scammers, but the remaining scammers will appear more trustworthy. Though the pro's outweigh the risk, you should keep in mind that there will still be someone in control of your account whom you don't know.

 

People should always know never give out your account without being secured with a PIN. It'll make you have to get the materials yourself, but it guarantees that, at most, the scammer can only take like 4m.

 

I honestly think it should be a picture of the person outside of the caves getting the congratulations textbox or whatever it is.

But also, i think the best thing to do would to have a bank pin on your account..? Makes it easier for everyone

 

How it would make things easier?

 

If a person does get scammed, they lose about 5m worth of stuff max, this is about $3 at today's rates, not many people will lose sleep over that. It means that people will post a RoS thread, and wait patiently for it to be checked over, they won't be making threads whining about how he hasn't been banned yet, because they haven't lost a huge amount of money. Scammers will also be less likely to scam someone $3 because their account would get banned. Therefore less people will scam because it is not worth the time and effort just to get $3. But, If people don't have a bank account, the scammer may go onto their bank, take 30m+ in items/money. This person will then constantly whine and moan about how their scammer report hasn't been looked at and how he hasn't been hit with the banhammer, causing more problems for mods.

 

No support. We don't make rules like this for all the other kind of trades, and this could be photo shopped just as much as if you hadn't pressed enter.

 

You'd need more talent to photoshop it though compared to a chatbox as caves have cracked floors and it would be way easier to spot a fake.

Also I believe that when the thread is amended , or even if the rule is left the same... the sticky should state you will be given an infraction for making a thread without proof. As I've seen like 30ish threads without proof and 3/4 the people who get their thread locked just re-make it without proof once again.

I'm pretty sure that anyone who has been scammed, regardless of how much it is will be keen on having that person banned.

You would be surprised how many people would scam for $3 here, its happened before and it will most definitely happen again.

It doesn't matter how much or what the scammer took, if they did scam. Whatever the amount, that person should be banned. You're portraying the mods as if they are lacking time/effort to go through the cases, which is not true.

 

Good call. Maybe to add: make sure that there is no editing whatsoever. It's easy to manipulate a chat box entirely, but the text above the head isn't easy at all.

capers should have no reason why that could not be willing to do this is they are a legit seller. easily edited with current rule

I thought there was plenty of legit capers these days. I alone was able to handle the demand for capes back in the day, is there really that much demand that people are trusting new members making topics with only 1 pic of proof?

Personally, I think you should have to do this for the first 5 Fire-capes you do, just as extra proof.
