I'm really sick of them and there's nothing I hate more than wasting my time speaking to one..
They go along with everything until you bring an OMM in.
Then they make up a silly excuse and say they have to log off and will complete the trade tomorrow. Some are retarded enough to continue posting on the forums/their thread stating that they are still buying.

They lurk about and move on to the next person until they find somebody who will go first.

It bugs me that they are free to do this and that the justice of the Sythe admins cannot be carried out due to no evidence of scamming.

What's even more irritating is that when I look at their previous post history I see they have posted in scores of threads, trying their luck with lots of people - but yet still no ban until they actually DO scam, despite their intentions being so obvious.

My suggestion: Just like on eBay, you commit to buy an item.. and in the same way that you would get strikes for unpaid items, I think Sythe members who piss about with excuses should have this reflected on their profile by strikes or trade ratings. People with no previous vouches who do this could be either given another chance or issued with a TWC straight away.

This will enable scammers to be identified easier
Therefore it will reduce the numbers
It will stop them building up post count by posting in every buy/sell thread.
Less fake replies to buy/sell threads.
Scammers will have to post genuinely on the forums to build post count to look legit, whereas atm they just post in Buy/Sell
Sythe will be a safer place for newbies who, atm generally get scammed in their first few trades until they know what to look out for.

    Discuss :)

Oh, sorry wasn't aware of that section. Could a mod please move if they read this. Thanks :)

and punjabi - why not? I've seen other sites with infraction systems - this could be a variation of that system which would prove to benefit Sythe in a lot of ways. Right now scammers have it too easy, we need to put the pressure on them and rightly so because after all.. they are utterly despicable, pathetic human beings.

Well theres already a sollution to this. Playerauctions. Your idea of commting to buy wont work because this is a forums. Not Rune-Ebay-Scape. If you want commited buyers then goonto playerauctions and sell. Probably best adivce

mods basically already have their hands tied with the scammers, imagine all the reports which would flood in of people attempting to scam, sometimes people legitimately have to go, usually if a scammer has scammed and made a new acc, a mod can do an ip check and simply ban them

    What BS are you talking?

Committing to buy will OF COURSE work on forums.. are you incredibly short sighted or what? I guess i'll have to explain it in tedious detail for you to pick up on it properly.

Step1: Firstly, the Seller makes a thread saying selling 100M
Step2: lots of people post in the thread
Step3: The seller will choose somebody to sell to
Step4: Seller will contact the buyer via PM/MSN
Step5: The trade is agreed on (at this stage the buyer & seller commit to the trade)

Then if the Buyer messes about:

Step6: Post screenshots to Scammers forum and user receives one strike/infraction which is visible in their profile.

So you can see this obviously works on forums too.

As for PA - this is Sythe and this is a suggestion to improve efficiency at identifying and banning scammers on Sythe!

I agree with this and I see your reasoning now too. I know Sythe staff have enough on their plate already and I totally appreciate all that they do. However, I didn't think this would be as much of a nuisance as going through scam reports, which can sometimes be long and complicated.

If you think about it though, by using a system like this you'd be catching the same scammers, only much quicker.

Yes, I feel your pain. I hate the way they move around the forum knowing they are safe until they actually commit the act, then they get banned.. but essentially they've won and some poor sucker loses out and rage quits on both Sythe and RS lol.

Then the scammer makes a new account and repeats the process.
It's a never ending cycle of breeding scammers and the fact that they can post in so many Buy/Sell threads to boost their post count makes them look legit.

If we could infract them they would be "marked" and would only waste 1 person's time not 100's.. and furthermore people would know to avoid them so they wouldn't WIN against Sythe members anymore and would hugely decrease the amount of fake offers on seller's threads.

Thanks for the support people. I'll re-write this thread, organise my points a bit better and post it in suggestions shortly. That way more people will see it and we can await a reply from those higher up as to whether it's do-able or not.

Using a system would work on a smaller forum, but on this theres thousands of accounts, a lot of people will do the following:

    add person
    tell them to go first
    the other person will refuse
the person will tell them if they don't go first hes posting a report
other person leaves and the person posts a report
Mod has to waste time looking into report, contact both parties, etc...

Its not really as short a process as it may sound
    now imagine this x50-100 reports
